A tree fell this morning and spooked this buck into a 100 yrd shot for me. Not much of a story. The bullet went in above his left hind quarter under his backstraps out above his right scapula and knocked about. 8 inches of horn off. Could not find it.

Most of us have been their once or twice. I just about rung my bell the other day. I forgot to put my limb saver pad on my rifle. I like the added length of pull on all my guns. I threw up to toast a yote and on the shot I felt it touch me but it did not kiss me bad enough to even leave a mark. If I had leaned into it a little more I would have looked the same :chuckle:
-
I have never had it happen before. Had to make a quick shot off hand on a steep sidehill looking sideways. That's my excuse anyways.
-
:chuckle: When I was real young my dad let me shoot at a yote. It was just a 223 but I could not see threw the scope. I put my arm over the stock and had it under my arm. Even though it was just a little 223! Dang! I have never been hit that hard since. Goose egg/blood in the eye/ plus it just about put me out cold!
-
What cal were you shooting Stew? I came close to getting nipped by my friends 270 short mag last week.
-
First time my dad shot his .300 WSM he had to lean into the cheap scope he had on it a little too far and boom! he handed me the gun and started jelly-legging. He is about 6'2" and 300 or so pounds. I wasn't looking to catch him :yike:
Blood dribbling down his face, black eye. Bad stuff. I did laugh my ass off tho, nice guy eh? :chuckle:
Bought a new scope later that week. Good move.

Congrats!! Looks like his neck was already swollen... Don't feel to bad about the scope kiss... I once had it happen with a 338... Pretty bad... Almost laid me out... Sold it... Then got laid out with my 30-378 Weatherby... Wasn't even fully rid of the black eye and scab from the damn 338... Sold it... Wish I still had it but sure as hell can't afford or like to shoot it!!!
-
Congrats Stew! Looks like a keeper.
-
Cmoney I normally shoot a 06 but had trouble with the scope this year. I was using my 300 wsm.
