Duck, Grouse, Pheasant or other Alorange recipe:
Chucker Alorange'
2 whole wild game breasts (cut in half) -- skin removed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 small oranges -- peeled and sectioned
1 medium apple -- cut into 1/2" pieces
1 medium onion -- cut into eights
1 can (6oz) frozen orange juice concentrate -- thawed
Directions:
Season bird with salt and pepper. Place the bird, fruit, and onion in a crockpot. Pour thawed orange juice over all. Cover; cook on low for 8-10 hours.
Discard fruit and onion. Strain and thicken sauce if desired.
Wild bird is obviously a bit lean to cook like chicken. I have found that this works great on Duck, Grouse and Pheasant. Havent tried it on chuckar. Just changed the name for you...Oh yeah, I throw all them little legs in the pot too, to good to waste! Serve over rice, some fresh steamed veggies, garlic bread and wine, you are good to go!

I shot some of both species last year. I cleaned them, plucked them, rinced them off in cold water, dipped them in milk and egg and floured them, put them in the dutch oven with a little bacon fat and Johnny's seasoning on the edge of the cookfire........... Simply great.

Sounds good. I have wanted to try my dutch oven with grouse at deer camp, but I always am out hunting until dark, and it seems too late to toss this into a new fire.
How long did they take to cook?

Chukars and Huns are great smoked!

Iceman, doesn't take long. Depends on how hot the fire is. Less time than chicken...... I don't really recall, I just kept a eye on them, and they were great.
