had a good morning in the blind yesterday limits of ducks and goose for both. at the goose check station the lady looked at the collared bird and said uh oh. we were like is that bad she says no there is a guy been trying to kill that goose she said its the elusive aleutian. guess he's a jewelry collector and has been trying to kill it oh well sorry bud.
it was mixed bag teals,widgeons,mallards,spoons,and shovels along with 6 cacklers and 2 aleutians.
oh yeah i don't advise going duck hunting on the coast and leaving your waders and coat at home. trust me i know from experience!

Had to look to see if Aluetians were open. I thought they were still closed. Never realized they opened the season back up for them. I've been looking at a collared one the past two days, but I'm not a jewelry hunter so it's safe. All the Specks on the other hand had better pray.

for you bird gurus on here how long is the average lifespan of a goose seems that 15 + years would be a long time but i'm no expert. just would think that the average lie would not be that long for any migratory bird.

DU wrote an article were the oldest recovered mallard was 27, Canada goose 30.
Think about how many miles they flew and how many spreads they saw....

i wouldn't think they live that long on average. thats alot of spreads passed by and who knows how many miles in a lifetime. guess we picked the right day to put out new deeks. and yes a spoon and shovel are the same just typed it wrong some call them one and some call it the other so i threw both in there.
and holy cow a 30 yr old goose that guy had to fly over a million miles thats pretty amazing!

I believe snow geese average 25-27 year lifespan. The smart ones seem to live the longest!
