Does anyone know when they are going to open up the quality control goose fields ? :dunno:
-
Do you mean the Snow Goose Quality Hunt Program?
-
Sorry yes the Snow goose quality fields .
-
I think it's open the same as the normal waterfowl season? The regs say oct13 thru jan 27. Are the signs not up yet? I know they kinda lag at getting those posted each year. Then to update the website takes even longer....
-
You got the itch don't ya... :chuckle:
Let me know if you want some company one of these times. I almost got out there with ya last season.... maybe this year.
-
Not until the birds get decoy shy.
There are no fields open yet. Try contacting Brandon Roozen (WDFW) qualityhunt@dfw.wa.gov
-
I shot him an email.

I also received similar info:
Thank you for the support and interest in the program. We hope to have a few snow goose units open for the weekend. Additionally, look for unit maps to start posting online at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/snow_goose/ (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/snow_goose/) next week.
Good luck,
Brandon Roozen
Hope that helps. Yes, let's get together this season. I can usually take a day here or there during the week if that's better.

Brandon was trying to open the fields by opening day, but due to the wet spring and late harvest he has had to wait until the crops have been harvested and the fields re-seeded. You should see them starting this week. He has all the fields layed out and by the sounds of it nearly 50 QH fields will be set up.

They were putting up the sign's this afternoon. I have a 11 ft. boat and trailer for sale. check out craigs list or on this site. Thanks

Sounds good Heartsblood .
-
snowgoos fields have been open in stanwood for quite awhile with plenty of geese in the area
-
Went through that area Friday checking on my boat in La Conner and saw 1 set up and thousands of birds somewhere else so they are there. Not to many swans yet
-
I just ran to the dump and the snow geese are thick ...plus I can not say I have ever seen a many mallards dumping into the corn fields like they were this morning ...I think its going to be one hell of a waterfowl season ...I was just thinking I best do some fowl hunting this winter ...the corn field I just drove by was loaded with greenheads :yike:
