Title: Reloading Bench Question
Post by: Wacenturion on October 23, 2012, 12:44:57 PM
Actually not about the bench itself, but more so about seating.  For those who reload a lot, what do you find comfortable as far as a seat goes while actually reloading?  My re-loaders are being set up on two Harbor Freight benches that are approximately 33-34 inches high.

Planning on purchasing some swivel stools, with or without backs, that the seat height at 30 inches.

Before I do that though, I thought I would ask those who know as my reloading room is still in the process of being set up.  Kids are grown so used one of the bedrooms upstairs. :chuckle:

Thanks

I left my HF bench stock height also, but you could cut the legs on them to lower them. Or get a bar stool and cut it to height

This is what I use. The back comes off if you don't want it and it is adjustable up/down.

Get a seat that raises pretty high. either youre gonna be too high to measure and prep or too low to pull the handle. i sit to do everything except the actual press stuff. i stand for those parts.

Just an old metal stool a guy gave me when he moved out of town.  Your reloading area looks too neat--have you ever used any of it?  :chuckle:

Quadrafire....I was thinking something along the same lines.  Back removes and seat swivels.  The seat is 30" high...bench top is like 34".

Have to say yours is nice in the fact it swivels up or down....nice feature.

If you are not sure on the height, I would go with the adjustable. I have one fixed that I hardly ever use, as it is never just right.

I use a regular office roller, up, down , armrest type of leather chair.

I also use a cushy bar stool as I built my bench to that height.  Never had an issue with sore backs or square-assing.

Two swivel padded bar stools. (I wish mine was swivel type). One with back, one without. (I don't like hitting my elbo on the back when pulling  handles, but once in a while it is nice to lean back.) Oh...  and on wheels. The type that spring up when you sit on it, but when you get up, they allow you to slide/roll the stool away.

This is what I have, essentially.  I just don't have the armrests, I broke the back off (oops), so I guess I just have a padded stool that goes up, down and swivels lol  Was an old office chair that the hospital was going to get rid of, so I snagged it.

I use a bar stool with a back on it that I purchased at a yard sale for $2.50. It is in great shape, steal!

So you find the 30" height works well....how high is your bench?
