Title: Skunks
Post by: Carp Commander on October 23, 2012, 07:59:00 PM
I am preparing to target a specific area where there are a lot of big coons. Problem is that the same piece of ground is full of skunks. I limited the types of baits and that seems to help but I still keep catching skunks. Do any of you wise old timers have any suggestions on how to handle the skunk or better yet keep them out of my live traps.

I would keep trapping skunks. They are a lot easier to skin and flesh. Not sure how much money they are worth (once trapping season starts), but may be worth your while to thin them out before targeting the coons.

Depends on your fur buyer.  Skunks can be profitable in other states.  That I do know.

Get your trap off the ground and you can stop worrying about skunks and will still catch all the coons that come by.  Otherwise make sure you cover your trap, tarp, box, whatever, then you can dispatch the skunks with no issues.

Skunk is great for trapping cats. Just a little bit in your lure and it is like catnip.

Yeah you can eat them.  Doubt you will be getting any sugar from the little woman for a while though. :yike:
