Post by: janttihunter on October 25, 2012, 11:48:31 AM
Thinking of driving over to gmu 381 for the first few days of late Muzzy. Ive been researching allot. Any advice on what public or "free to hunt private " I should try?

If its for elk dont waste your time. A BS wdfw filler hunt just to say they gave MLs something. I want the late hunt for "spike or antlerless" back in 346. that was a hunt.

its mostly private land over there. Find an any deer unit close to home that has clearcuts and walk the edges esp on the south facing cuts. the deer like to hang out in the sunshine right on the edge. they are laying down and you never see them till you spookem up. just walk real slow and look low.

Im scouting it tommorrow, Mostly private, just going to drive and look for hunting by permission sigs and make phone calls. There are some areas on the snake you can boat to and some small chunks of state ground. It is a little easyier to get on ground as most the land owners are done hunting and if your after a doe even more so

I was thinking of doing the same thing next weekend. I scouted all day today over here on the west side.

But Id be happy with a doe. Its my first year hunting here. Grew up hunting whitetails on the east coast. So Blacktail and Muleys are new and the different terrains are soo cool to me.
