i just got back from trying to fill my tag saw one bull in 5 days i was under the impression it was a target rich area
-
It is if you know where they are. :chuckle:
-
im in chair so car bound sadly i seen animals everyday cows one 5 point i would have taken ina second if he gave me a chance i stayed on 1913 and took 1914 all the way to the back of little naches and 790 1905 put in 100+ miles a day
-
i figured that if i could i would have dove deeep in to the brush and timber
-
Weather is not helping this year
-
10+ boot miles will be much for successful than 100+ truck/4wh miles. Not trying to be a smart ass, just helpful. Generally by rifle season the Elk will be held up and in the thicker stuff.
How is this post being helpful?
Afterall he did state he was in a chair.
-
do u think they had been pushed down already?

No.
Just hunkered down and in the timber.

Would this be called putting your "boot" in your mouth?

oh most i did see was down near little naches road and when i went up pretty high not much sign
-
i only hunted the little naches part of peaches never went over to 336
-
Can you hunt the Little Naches? I hear that unit can be much easier to hunt out of the pickup. A good friend of mine is in a chair and had good success but his tag was both Little Naches and Peaches.
The Peaches Ridge permit is for the Little Naches and Taneum GMU's. And yes, I agree, the Little Naches would be the better option for road hunting.
-
Those road numbers he previously mentioned are in the LN Pinetar.
-
Keep doing exactly what you are doing.
Spend the first couple and last couple hours hitting spots that you feel might hold the elk.
Spend the mid day hours talking with any one you run into. Explain your situation. You might be surprised at how much info you might gain from other hunters, particularly the ones who do not have a big bull tag.
Windshield time, keep logging windshield time!!!
-
hopefully i will get chance to go back next weekend the last weekend but will have to tags in pocket have naches cow tag starts 31 so home to get horns but ill drop cow if i see her
-
il will keep it up
-
Is it a time issue (work) or an access issue (vehicle).
Don't mean to pry but someone might step up and give you a hand if it's a vehicle issue. I absolutely would if I was not prepping for a trip to Montana. :)
-
im in school already took week off and access is somewhat part of it tahoe not jeep trail friendly i have a gator but neither is it
-
We always used to see em between those 2 roads leading to ravens roost. Not sure of the road numbers
-
See if I can get some time off work and help you out if interested.
-
Wheels, Ribka is a good, honest person. I would send him a PM and see if you guys could make a hunt work. Good luck with getting the bull of your dreams. Sounds like you have put the time, just need one to cooperate.
-
Will do. C
You elk hunting this week?
-
You da man, Ribka. I wish I knew the area.
-
If I was u I would talk with rtspring
-
Ribka, Hunted yesterday, lots of FOG/snow/freezing rain! Saw one big herd, saw 3, 1x2s, and some mature bulls, did not find the elusive true spike. Did you get out any?

Hope you were not in Peaches unit. Those 1x2's are legal there.
-
:chuckle: Nope. I am a Colockum man! Unless i draw to hunt somewhere else.
-
Being there when rifle is open is probably a good bet (now). They will be moving more from being pushed.
-
So what ever happened here? Did Ribka help Wheels get an elk? I need to hear how this story ended. ;)
-
Good question. Wonder how that hunt turned out? :dunno:
-
He never contacted me either! I sure could of helped him out!!
-

I'm really hoping my old man draws this year he has 10 quality points. We will be archery hunting as normal.
-
Most people that draw have above 10. Except for the friend of mine who drew back to back years!!!
-
Archery tags average around 6 points. I've drawn twice with 6 or less.
-
Thats great, I was referring to Rifle hunters. Hope you draw!!
-
Probably heading over tomorrow to scout.
-
I will be up there this afternoon and maybe through tommorow
-
I think I will put but relying on the point system is useless....I had to friends put in as partners and drew Peaches back to back ..How ? Have no clue ! I will be putting for this tag this year since my buddy talked me into it ....man I just hate to waste 6 bucks :chuckle:
-
Dont forget I will be putting in also!! Ha ha. You can always dream right???
-
Thats where all the elk go come hunting season.
-
yea had good time thought hit jack pot in snow but it just put them in hiding maybe put in for naches disabled is the oct 1-10 better timing?
-

I have a buddy that has 17 points, he's still trying. It really comes down to luck.
