Anyone have any real world experience with the GSG 1911 22LR pistol? I've looked at them, but don't have any trigger time with one, just curious what your thoughts are.
Plan to use it for a packing gun while coyote hunting, simply to dispatch dogs that refuse to die.

My uncle has one.that he let Ethan and I shoot for a while. I liked the gun and the way it handled. The only problem I found was that it was REALLY picky about what ammo you feed it. My uncle had given me some CCI ammo that worked for him and I picked up some "hyper velocity" remington ammo to shoot. It had absolutely no problems with the CCI. It would stove pipe or not eject the fired round but still try to load a fresh round every couple shots with the remington ammo. I had some blazer and winchester rounds as well and the only ammo that it liked was the CCI.
Nice gun once you figure out what it likes to eat......

I have the Sig 1911 22 which is the same gun and absoluetly love it. The only thing I don not like is the sight. They are cheap plastic and will be replaced as soon as I have the time. I have already stripped the plastic with the set screw. for the time being it has bee modified to work.

Thanks guys for the info, I'll look into the Sig as-well.

i have two friends who have them. one is very picky, the other is not. my son has a walther p22 that is a champ. never had any problems with them. i have shot a handful of the sigs and never found one that runs right. their .22s are not up th sig standards.

I have this gun. Very accurate and it is a little pickey on ammo. High volicy works well, cheap stuff works good but after it gets a little dirty is when you have problems. I love this gun you can't beat the quality.

PA BEN....that's the gun I have been considering. Tons of holsters around for the 1911 frame and those are supposed to be the same dimensions as any standard 1911. Have you found that to be the case?
I am not interested in shooting tons of various brands of ammo in one, just find one the works and stay with it. It is only going to be used for head shots on coyotes at 3 feet to put them down without blowing big holes in them if the 22-250 fails to kill them on the first round.
The guys I hunt with get all freaked out when I stick a screwdriver or a pocket knife through the dogs ear into it's brain to put it down. (Just a little trick I learned during one of my special training courses throughout my lifetime) :chuckle: :chuckle:
But it does work!

same exact dimensions as any other 1911. I use all my holsters for my sig 1911-22, kimber etc.
-
PA PEN, what amo does it like :dunno:
-
My sig will shoot just about anything. Same gun, very few jams (maybe 3) and probably have 100 rounds down the tube.
-
I have two gsg guns....just not pistols. Fun to shoot.....hell to clean.

Friend has a GSG. Shoots Blaser 22 Ammo- Never a jam.
