I was wondering if this day would ever come. She finished Hunter's Ed last year at age 11 and was in the top of the class. After going to the range last year she became really gun shy because of the muzzle blast from some dude shooting next to us. She did not want to even talk about shooting. A few weeks ago out of the blue she said that she was ready to shoot. Her first time out with her new Remington 700 SPS, .243, she put 7 rounds at 100 yards in the size of a nickel. Most shots were touching. After some more shooting she was ready to hunt. We have been hitting it hard the past couple of weeks. Today, we hiked our butts off and decided to try some sit down rattling and calling. We did a good set and nothing so we went for a hike. Got on top of a knob and noticed a deer sneaking towards were we had been rattling. We blew around the back of the knob, put the super sneak on him and she got him a few yards from where we were set up earlier. 2 point, 150 yards, off hand, in the pouring rain with me holding in her ear plugs, one shot in the crease, double lung, a mule kick and on the ground like a sack of bricks. She was so proud but not half as much as I. By the time we got it into the barn and started skinning it the word had gotten out and everyone and their brother came by for high fives and pictures. I couldn't be more proud of her! Sorry the pic is so dark. I need to teach her not to cover the antlers with her hands. LOL!

Thanks everyone! She is still on cloud 9! I told her that if she keeps her grades up that I will take her to my whitetail honey hole next year and pull her out of school for a few days. She is stoked!
Michelle, she asked me right after we walked up to it "how much would it be to have the whole thing stuffed?" LOL! I'm going to do a nice Euro with a pretty chunk of quarter sawn oak from one of our trees with the bark and moss on it.
