I have a hair tag for the little Naches unit. The hunt starts on the 31st so I haven't headed to camp yet. A few of the guys that are in camp already are saying the Elk have already been pushed down and they collectively have seen one cow and calf in the last two days. I am unfamiliar with the area outside of that area the camp is at. Do I stand a reasonable chance at filling a cow tag still or has the weather screwed me? Any help would be appreciated and PM's are just fine if you don't want to post up. I would just go figure it out myself but I have limited time off and don't want to just waste my time if the animals really have been pushed out. Thanks.

Never time waisted in the elk woods! Just waisted time makin money to pay taxes! :chuckle:

Very unlikely that a little snow has pushed them down yet. Plus, it's been raining now. You should do fine.

Hair tag? You must mean antlerless? I don't think there are any "hair tags." Of course spikes will be legal since the general season is open at the same time.

Good luck! Let us know how you do! I had a cow tag last year and filled it on the second day of the cow season. Dont get discouraged if you dont fill it right away, keep after it and you will be fine!

Yes Bobcat, it is a cow tag. Thanks for the replies.

If you get off the road, you will have a 100 percent success. There are still a lot of elk in there hiding in the timber. Follow a game trail and you will be in good shape. Don't make this hunt hard as it is pretty easy to fill a meat tag. Good luck.
:yeah: :yeah:
Stick to the timber...they are there.

is green water short cut over the top rd 70 i think it is open over the top into little Naches or do you have to drive around? thanks

I cannot imagine the weather moving them down for another month or so.. :dunno:
There is no reason NOT to fill this tag. Like others have said, get off the road (probably not even very far) and you will see elk.
Good luck!

just got back from there...saw 6 cows in a weeks time. 2 camps over got a great 6x6. seems that the elk still may be running nocturnal and heading deep in the dark/thick stuff. had snow the first 2 days but melted thanks to the ton of rain we got.
