Title: KIRO 7 Gun map
Post by: Russ McDonald on October 29, 2012, 05:41:55 PM
The media just stirring the pot http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/seattle-resident-refuse-arm-themselves/nSq4B/ (http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/seattle-resident-refuse-arm-themselves/nSq4B/) although I did like the reporter starting off by shooting a gun.  At least we know that it was done by a guy that does know something about a weapon.  I think the general public doesn't need to know what areas have to most CPL's.  Just my  :twocents:.  What do you all thing?

Just came across that article myself and am cautious if they are testing the waters for controversy or pumping the real estate prices up in Lyman. :chuckle:
A map overlay of crime and density of felons would complete the story on an upbeat note but would rather the story never happened.
Seattle undoubtedly has a happier criminal element and now that the media has enlightened them I would hate to interfere if more want to move there.

Great, now all the criminals know that in Vancouver, his chances are only 1 in 50 that if he holds someone up, they're carrying. This map is no public service for my family and me.

Plus they state that Lyman has the most CPL's in the state.  Yeah the population is 76 and 34 of them have permits.  that is just scewed numbers if you ask me.

yeah whom ever wrote this article obviously doesnt know much about stats or state laws, case in point;
,
"In total, around 370,000 Washingtonians have the legal right to carry a handgun outside their home.", pretty sure WA is open carry and any legal firearm owner can carry outside the home, concealed carry is where the permit applies, but everyone here knows this just had to air a grevance.

theres an alternative motive behind that map it would have been a lot easier from a GIS mapping point (not that what they did is hard, i could build that map in twenty minutes) to do it by county, why break it down by city when permits are issued via county sheriff   :dunno:

Good choice of coloring on that map. Seattle is "pink".  :chuckle:

Was at the the county's sheriffs office this past friday renewing my CPL.  While there, 5 others were there either renewing or applying for the first time.  I guy told the lady working the desk, "I think that if people have a CPL then they should be carrying all the time.  There would be a lot less crime." And she said "I couldn't agree more".  Have had mine when it was a renewal every three years and a thumb print was placed on the card.
