I spend early season looking hard for a decent buck and now this walks on my back property about an hour ago. Mother nature has a sense of humor!!!
-
He will Do!!!!
-
 Keep him around!... Shot him in late season! :hunter:
-
:archery_smiley: THWACK!!!
-
Tail sticking strait out, I wonder what he's thinking about?.... ;)
-
That happened at my place yesterday. My youngest daughter got her buck last week, a 2 point up t Vail. Yesterday a big 4 point comes strolling trough our yard trailing some does. :bash:
-
I have already started his fresh apple and doe urine regiment. If I dont get a whitey in a couple weeks, then I will be back to introduce him to mr Matthews.
-
Give him one more year and he will be a slammer!
-
It would be nice to see if he improves next year....
-
he didn't even see me at 15 yards
-
That buck feels safe!
-
Nice!
-
Another back yard buck..... Why go look for them. This year they are showing up!!!:bash:
-
Nice, I would almost leave them alone and keep them around!...
Handsome Buck
-
Because mother nature has them looking for love :dunno: :chuckle: This would not be in Glenhaven would it ?
-
The last ones a big boy!

That second picture ...I would love to send a 100 gr Wasp about 3 inches above his brisket and then hang him on my wall :dunno: if I can find room :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :archery_smiley: :cue:
-
I had the same thing happen to me yesterday and it was a bigger 4x. At least I did get to see a buck.
-
This would not be in Glenhaven would it ?
The terrain in the background is too flat to be Glenhaven. :chuckle:
-

Lots of bucks around glenhaven, I live in glenhaven, the buck in my avatar was in glenhaven.
-
have you seen any of these ? :dunno:
-
oh heavens, is that glenhaven??????
-
cant be, looks like pine trees
-
Nice backyard bucks. I've seen some monster pics of bucks in Bellingham in couple of the neighborhoods with greenbelts running through them. They definitely know where they are safe.
-
they leave their little nest in a couple weeks ...have mercy :dunno: :yike: :yeah: :chuckle:
-
they look like muleys
-
Nice BT, either one will do just fine
-
they look like muleys
No ...can not say they do ... Look at their ears and look closely at the tails ..especially the one in the flower bed ? have any idea where I am ? :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Are you on a island?
-
NO ..But RiverRat is being aweful quite :dunno: :chuckle:
-
ahahaha....what am I being quiet about?
-
ahahaha....what am I being quiet about?
I want you to look super close at the bucks I posted in the yard and especially the one laying in the flower bed ...Look at his forks and eye guards and every other detail you can tell me about this buck and look at the one you posted ...the big one you posted !
-
Ok... I looked. I see what looks to be some massive mule deer you posted. I posted two blacktail bucks, one of which was pretty sturdy. I have a feeling I am missing something pretty obvious though. Can you give me a :dunno:hint?
-
No they are not Mulies ..look at the ears and the tail and the faces ..they surely are not mulies ...I am saying the buck in the flower bed looks exactly like the big buck you posted ..same forks and points but still in velvet ....Do you live in Whatcom county ...thats all I want to know :chuckle:
-
No I am in Pierce County area..... I didn't even look at the tails/ears I was drawn by the racks. Crazy how similar the horn characteristics can be!
-
O.K not the same buck
-
Big backyard bucks. I am jealous. If I had trophy blacktails cruising my yard I wouldn't be chasing whitetails.
-
we had a 3' tall little bitty fawn here at at 10:30 pm closing day of modern, looked like veil but wife disagreed  even the 3 yr old asked mommy if he could be for dinner :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I'd drop that sucka in a heart beat....
-
ya i was immediately imagining him smothered in BBQ sauce, kinda like the way Yosemite Sam sees bugs bunny
-
I tried to blink "like bewitched" and fast forward to the 21st. It didnt work!~!!
-
Bowhunter45, Did you take that pic? I have seen it posted before and it said the pic was taken in eastern or.
-
They look like mulies to me.(just saying)
-
Oh ok, yeah I see it. I would say lake whatcom!
-

What are you smokin bowhunter the ears and tails look like muley to me... That buck does have similar characteristics though but they all still look like muley bucks!
The one with the dropper would die. Pet or not he looks old and maybe a little bit miserable he needs put out of misery.
-
I'm confused. Are you guy's talking about the deer in velvet looking like mulies are the blacktail looking like mulies? The buck's riverrat posted are 100% blacktail no cross what so ever with mule deer where he lives.
Those other deer in velvet are either northern cali blacktail or mule deer but since I don't know where the pick was taken I'll say mule deer. Clearly you can see a pine tree branch in the picture which helps place them a bit.
-
This is an interesting subject, so I got to ask. How would you guys feel about killing bucks or bulls in your back yard?
-
I started the thread simply to show how evil mother nature is when she doesn't show me a buck while archery season is open but when the season closed, they show up in my back yard..... As for whether I would shoot one... simply put, YES! I live out in the country on a small piece of land backed by a timber area.
-
I'm not trying to be a dick, I also live in a wooded area and have wildlife in the yard at times. I just was curious how most would feel shooting one in the back yard. It seems too easy, I know I could be successful every year in the back yard and one of my goals is to get a big blacktail but I want to get one on public land in the backcountry. Hey, if it's legal and you feel good about it, more power to ya. I just was looking for opinoins.
-
oh no, I didn't take it that way :). I like the question.... I would certainly prefer the adventure of a hunt away from home out in the wilderness. But if I was posed with tag soup and a buck like those showed up and it was in season, I would not hesitate.
-
I thought they were mulies, racks are way to wide for blacktail. plus ears are huge and the butts look white. Oh and the pine branch in the pic. If those were blacktails I would crap myself because those would be all washington state record blacktail! just saying.

the same way i feel about eating cheeseburgers in my truck, it can be messy at times but a fat kids gotta eat
-
sorry bowhunter45, i have seen a crap load of blackies in my time as that is my lifes passion, and i cant make those turn into blackies for nothin, they are friggin monsters thats for sure, but maybe they could be northern cali blackies but not washington blackies, as for the question about shootn in the backyard, its would be great for a kid or if you just flat wanted meat, but ya dont feel great about it cause i know, i shot my first bull elk in my backyard during the rifle season a few years back, it was great eatn but it didnt feel like i earned him, but mama got a freezer full of burger and i got a ton of fine steaks, riverrat those are sweet blackies that bottom one is a hog for sure.....and yes mother nature just likes to prove a point once in awhile that she is boss and can do what she wants and us poor saps gotta deal with it or she makes us eat tag soup :chuckle:
