Thinking about getting a new shorthair pup in the spring. Any recomendations for breeders in the WA, ID, OR area?

A friend of mine got one from a breeder in Corvallis, and has been very happy with her. Don't know the kennel name, but I could try to find out.

Have you had one before?

I would do a search on here for GSP there is really go info on some threads with breeders names on there.

I got mine from Scott Chavis at Real Dog Kennels. He has a litter on the ground now, I don't think that all are spoken for. Mine is mellow around the house, especiall for a GSP, but she is a hunting machine. Pat Murphy at NW Performance dogs has worked with several of Scott's dogs-get ahold of him and see what he tells you. I know others that have pups from him and I have not seen one yet that is not a great hunter. Just my opinion.

Here are links to the clubs in WA and OR. You need to give some more information to get a better fit for what style dog you want. Close personal hunter/ family companion dog or field trial machine; some are swimmers and retrieve and some don't. We are looking at breeding our bitch this spring but don't have a dog picked out yet although we have a short list and just need some testing/ lineage confirmations before proceeding. The club listings will help get some conversations started just make sure you have hips, elbows and eyes tested. Try to meet the grand sire/dame as well as the parents tells you a lot about the breedings.
Good luck and good breed pick ;)

Thanks for the info guys. Yes I do have a short hair now. She has health issues that is keeping her from hunting much.
I am looking for a good female family dog. Im looking for a dog that has the stamina to run chukar all day and pheasant for five days straight. Due to my location i like a dog that hunts closer than further but not that importany to me. A dog that has some desire to retrieve would also be nice. Instict stamina and eager to please are my biggest requirements. Thank you!

Don't forget to look at the BC area dogs - Hunter's Pride is a Hall of Fame kennel that has stamped the breed. Maxine is one of the best.
