Title: Winston Cow Tag- Any advice
Post by: JoeFishin on November 04, 2012, 05:16:35 PM
Drew an anterless (cow) tag from the Winston Unit. Hunted this past weekend, walked and walked and walked. Tons of hunters and no did not see any animals.  Anyone out there willing to give any advice? I would greatly appreciate it. Hunted the 719/Devils Creek/Meadow area by the 500/1100 "Y".
thanks
Joe

Keep walking..... Thats a gimme tag....

I would not even look at a clearcut beyond opening morning out there..... Tall timber.....

Easy tag man..... Don't get discouraged..... Keep hitting it hard, and it will pay off for you....

You should have also been in there before now doing homework.... Just saying....

You were in a good spot. Should have seen elk, or at least sign.

Got the same Cow Tag, been pushing hard since Saturday morning, bumped some cows in the reprod off the 540 opening day, nothing since.  Heading back out Wed night to chase some more.  If anyone else has ideas for up there I would love to hear em, been hunting that area for 6 years now, and all my usual kill sights look to have little sign.

Thats the issues with the open roads....you were in good spots as said and given good advice. Find road closures & hit the timber...stay at it all day....
