while in pursuit of my skokomish quality tag i spotted this guy running off to bed. Unfortunately I knew there was no way I would catch up in time but i tired anyway ( hoping it would end as one of those stories where he bedded just on the other side of the hill) Well needless to say he was a real bruiser. I could tell he was a buck without optics. this was shot with my 300mm lens on full zoom. I luckily had it handy and on since I was taking pictures of the elk herd down in the fields. Definitely hoping I can shoot him with an arrow instead of a lens next time!!!

Looks like you are on the right track. That is the area I would be hunting if I had your tag.

If given an opportunity, I'd shoot that buck in a heartbeat.
From the pics I'm not sure I'd call him much more than average though.

I agree. A good one with a bow for sure though.

to me he seems significantly better than the vast majority of the deer you see taken out of the units down here near vancouver. Maybe average for that unit but when you feel lucky seeing a spike around the units over here it sure gets you excited!! I get excited over a small fork coming into my trail camera here in the battleground unit hahaha

Yeah that is a great buck for ol south west washington!! I grew up in Longview and there are good black-tail around there but they are sure hard to find!! Good picture and good luck finding him! One season early archery I chase a 4 point blacktail around in circles for the whole season in a jack fir cluster Fu%& that was only the size of a square block and never flung an arrow!! So again I know what your up against down there and good luck
