Anyone going out this weekend? Considering fising around Hat....PNP....the Bar....all depending on weather. Going to drop some pots and try and troll up a king....anyone going or been out? The reports on Salmon U are promising if you can put up with a little wind and waves at times.
-
possibly sunday or monday. not sure yet...
-
Looking ahead at the NOAA marine forecast it looks like it is plenty fishable.....
-
good, cause if i go out itll be on a small boat! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Maybe next weekend for sure..
-
Hey H2O, there aren't any blackmouth where you plan on going. Crab either! :chuckle:
-
Oh you think huh.......you going out? Maybe I'll just shadow you and you can show me how to get it done!
-
I'm elk hunting this weekend but maybe we can get out next. Throw out some pots and bonk some blackies! That would be fun.
-
I may be a little undersized but im pretty good at pulling crab pots. I'm just saying.
-
I had you in mind D but I've got a full boat so far.
-
If I go you can ride with me D!
-
Well....total bust. We did catch a few red rock but the crab were a no show. Dropped pots off Hat...my usual area....two hour soak with 6 crab total in the pot....mostly females bursting with eggs. Had one take down while trolling the race track but it was gone before the rod tip even came back up. Wind, some rain, plenty of cold....but hey...we went and we tried.
-
Are you going to try again this weekend H2O? I want to give it a shot on Sunday.
-
I wasn't planning on it. Unsure of Sunday plans as of yet. If nothing shakes out for me on the family schedule and you have an empty seat I'd be happy to tag along and see what we could shake up. Have pots and gear!
-
I went out Tuesday for a while after work. It was kind of windy, raining and choppy, but caught 4 shakers, had a 8-10 lb fish snatched by a seal and brought up about a 20 lb halibut that also wound up as seal chow! Damn seals were voracious. That's the first halibut I have ever hooked in the sound and it was on a flasher and coho killer spoon.
-
At least you got out.....plenty of folks troll for them that way out in the strait...I never have but good to know it actually works.
-
got the boat loaded up, going to blackmouth fish and crab hood canal tommorrow to help with the thanksgiving food/drink hangover :)
-
How'd you do yesterday? Thinking of going out tomorrow.
-
crabbing was slow in the lower Hood Canal, not sure if the weather was it or the low vis from the flooding. I got a few dungys and some nice reds but only 2.5 lbs of cleaned meat. Plan on attacking it again but going north towards seabeck and northward this weekend. I wished we would of been out there late sat and today since the weather was better
