Title: eastside elk late muzzy, where to go?
Post by: trophyhunt on November 11, 2012, 06:33:06 PM
My early season muzzy never happens because I'm in Idaho for elk at the same time, late season just doesn't seem to have any good units. Do any of you guys know what a good late muzzy eastside elk unit would be?  Of course I'm not asking for a spot you spend many years getting to know, I just would love to know the unit that holds some elk. Thanks for any advise.

Good luck. The units given for eastern late muzzy elk are poor. Piss poor to be exact.

That's exactly why I put this subject on this forum, I figured maby someone knew of a spot worth checking out. There has to be a unit with a chance!

No there's nothing worth hunting open for late muzzleloader.

Unless you have access to private land or do a lot of scouting and know where they are.

If you buy an east side muzzleloader tag you really need to plan on putting all your time into the early season.

Good luck smokepolers.

I also hunt eastside muzzy elk and it is pretty much a waste of time in the late season.  Any place that is open and there actually elk in the unit is mostly private ground. I hang it up after the early season. Good luck to you.

Where to go if you have big money?  Because there are big bulls and it's any elk   :dunno: :dunno:

Better to pay big and get a return immediately than to wait 12-15 years to get drawn and pay and pray each year   :twocents:

Best way to hunt late muzzy is to get a permit. Several of us on this forum got them.
The odds of getting a permit are not that bad. If you have 3 points or more, you should be able to score.
The permit seasons are much longer than the non-permit seasons. More time.
