First chance to get out after my red legged adversaries and came home with a couple in just an hour of hunting. Busted two coveys, one with about 12 that flushed well out of range and the second 20+ that I got a double. The dog did great on one that was a runner. Both birds were big and full of seeds and fresh green shoots.
I've seen many covey's while out deer hunting and all in large numbers. Anybody else seeing similar?

 sweet.

Glad someone is finding 'em.

Good to know. I need to get back out there soon.

I've been out twice and have been averaging about a covey an hour. Last time was on Monday, but coveys were small two or three birds only.

I've had some great luck this year...to the point where I haven't even been back out grouse hunting since the season opened and really not motivated to chase the ditch parrots around. Hoping to get into some huns this weekend as well.

Nice looking birds! I am hoping to get out Thanksgiving weekend. Have fun...go find some more

Finally found some WA chukars, after years of trying, and I didn't have to drive 5 hrs. to Oregon. Feels like I won the lottery. Got into five coveys and a re-flush. Very physically demanding hunt, but also very rewarding because of it. Snow fog, 1500 ft climb, it had it all. One of the best days I've ever had, even though we only got a few birds. Also the first wild birds I've taken with my sweet little 5.9lb Antoine Marechal (Belgian) 16ga hammer gun. The sling really came in handy too, since I needed both hands free to scale some near vertical rock faces.

Two days ago we, the GSP and I, hit two nice covies within 1.5 hours of the hunt. Of course that was afte the 1000' climb. Too bad the fog shut us down and limited us going after the covies.
