It was a slow weekend for fishing! Down in the Lewiston/Clarkston area, every year, Avista holds a little steelhead derby. Around 50 or so people were in the derby, and only 8 fish were turned in. I knew the numbers were lower this year, but we were bound and determined to put some fish in the boat. We were strictly jig and bobber fishing. We spent some time fishing the Snake and the Clearwater, whichever was less windy. My dad caught a 34 inch 11lb14oz fish and got 3rd place in the derby. I caught mine Sunday morning after the derby. It was 32 inch 9lb11oz, not huge, but still mighty tasty. So, after around 25 hours of fishing, not much action, but at least I didn’t come home empty handed. Always a great time on the water with my dad. Just glad to be out there. Let's rip some lips!

I love the colors on these fish. It was probably the prettiest hen I've caught. The pic doesn't do her colors justice. One of the best eating fish is right! One of these years I'm going to do the week long steelhead tournement that they hold down in Lewiston/Clarkston every year. My dad has done it the past two years and he's doing it again this year. Wish him luck! His best year was 150lbs of fish in a week! Rip some lips!
Too bad you can't blast some mallards and some geese while you're waiting for your bobber to dive! They were everywhere. Talk about a good time!!
