I have a Custom Bug Rod that was build for me as a gift and want to sell it but have no idea what it's worth. It was built by Raymond Adams of Snake River Rods. Guess he's no longer doing rods because his website has been pulled. Its a 9' 6-7 weight on a Dan Craft 3 pieice blank. When he built it he told me it was very highend but discontinued blank. Shorty after he sent it to me I broke a bone in my wrist and the Docs won't fix it because I smoked, then I got Cancer and they REALLY wouldn't touch it. LOL Yup its still broke. :( So how would you price something like that? Its never had a reel on it.

You may want to call Greg of Gregs Custom Rods in Lake Stevens....he may be able to help.....the rod is beautiful by the way.

:yeah: I don't know if this is the same guy I know of, but there is a place in Lake Stevens that the guy knows a lot about fly rods. My buddy brought an old fly reel that he inherited to the guy, and he said that he could get a lot of money for it (don't remember what he quoted). He ended up getting $900+ on ebay :yike:

Good advice. Greg is a good guy. Another great option is http://www.fethastyx.com/ (http://www.fethastyx.com/) in Redmond. Awesome customer service. You can also post on washington fly fishing . com (remove spaces) Lots of guys on there familar with custom rods. They also have a classifieds section once you get an idea of a price. Like anything else, it is worth what someone is willing pay for it though. So that could mean not much or quite a lot depending on how you work it.
A starting point is to figure out what you paid for it. Since it has never been strung up, it should keep it's value pretty well.
One thing to keep in mind is with the maker no longer in business, warranty type work will not be an option. Snap the tip off, and the rod is pretty well done (though Greg or Fetha Styx would be able to help - so not all would be lost depending on how much broke off).
Would be a sweet beach rod for cutties, resident silvers, and humpies. Also nice for summer steelhead.
Sorry about your situation and best of luck getting the info you need.

That's a beautiful fly rod!! Another option would be to keep it as an heirloom and just keep passing it through the generations. Not too often a rod like that comes along.
-
Another thing about contacting guys like Greg is they may already know guys that would be potential buyers...
-
Called Greg and he was talkin maybe $400,But he don't appraise them. Has heard of the Dan Craft though.
-
There you go.....it's a start...May not be a stretch to google a few fly shops in the Montana region and shop it around. If Greg knows the name so will others.....only takes a phone call and with email and pics you could find a buyer that will pay more.

A few things that might be helpful:
Looks like it is a Dan Craft blank that was used (not Don Craft)
It is also Raymond Adams, not Ray Raymond I bet.
You may be able to hunt him down: http://rodbuilding.org/read.php?2,339099 (http://rodbuilding.org/read.php?2,339099)
