I was drawn for a late Methow whitetail tag and a couple buddies were drawn for a couple of late muley tags in the same area. I figured me getting a buck would be a bonus as most of the land is private and the whitetails just didn't appear to be rutting much like the muleys were. Saw a lot of whitetail does but not a lot of bucks. Plus I was spending more time hunting with the other guys on their muley tags.
They ended up taking a couple of nice bucks, one is a very clean deep forked 4 point typical and one is an extremely heavy unique 5 x 6. The bigger buck had a ton of mass and some cool bladed points.
We saw a ton of bucks and weather was perfect.
On the third day I was sitting on some public forested land when my small buck walked by about 75 yards and I couldn't refuse. I figured this was more of a meat hunt than a trophy hunt. One shot through the shoulder and heart but he was still running and as you can see my second shot just skimmed his back as he dropped.

You just may have needed to wait one more week for the whitetail rut to kick in. It is a week or so later than the mulie rut. I took a nice whitetail in the Methow area but would have settled for a forky, didn't have to. The mulies were a major distraction during my hunt and It made for a fun enjoyable hunt/vacation for me just seeing all the huge mule deer. Looks like you had a great hunt!
