Title: How much barrel channel do i need?
Post by: snowshoes22 on November 19, 2012, 11:45:39 AM
I'm going to order a laminate stock. The site i'm getting it from only has 1" and 1 1/4" barrel channels. My bull barrel measures 1.060" to 1" It has a savage 110 action so it needs to be free floated. Do i get the 1" and sand a little or get the 1 1/4 and leave it? Is 1 1/4 too much?

Get the 1.25 in. channel.. you will never regret having enough float...

You can also add a thin layer of acra-gel to add more stabilization with the bigger float as well.

If you get the 1 1/4 channel it may look like chit due to the large gap between the barrel and stock.  I would purchase the 1" and sand/dremmel it down so that you can slide a sheet of paper and not a ream between the barrel and stock.
