Got'er done in an unfamiliar unit. Gave ourselves almost 7 days to get a respectable first whitetail buck for the wall. Had 3-4 places to keep tabs on and only ran into one other tag holder. I wanted one for the wall and would only settle for a meat buck in the last two days. Found him on day four. He got real nervous stomping his foot and Larry (my husband) said there's your shooter, tall and heavy! I got my rifle loaded and had a hard time getting comfortable. I had to adjust a few times and finally let him have it. He ran and Larry headed him off to keep him out of the dark timber which gave me a second shot but I had to take it as he trotted through the field. Lead him by a foot and let fly, his backend went down. Notthe best shooting I've ever done but he was down. Still had to finish him off. He blew and hissed at us. What a tough animal with a huge will to live. Probably my biggest buck to date and my first whitetail buck. An awesome finish to a new endevour for us. Thanks hun for doing this with me! Thanks Bobcat for your suggestions.
