Anyone know what kind of duck this is? Its immature as it still has babe plummage. I first thought merganser, but bill seemed wrong to me. Grieb?

I just scrolled through the North american game birds book. And i cant find anything that matches that bill. I was first thinking immature Gadwall hen but that cant be right. Im interested in what it is also now.

I'll get a better profile pic for you

Interesting. Maybe a Podilymbus podiceps, the Pied Billed grebe? :dunno:
-
That sure looks like a grebe
Bone, funny you should post that today. Last night I was thinking of your prior thread (couple yrs ago) of the wood ducks eating tadpoles if I remember right??? I couldn't find it in a search.
