i heard and have a pic on my phone, looks big, even heard a rough score, but i don't think i can say or show anymore.
-
I heard the rumor today as well! I saw the plane land at Skagit regional!! :chuckle: Kidding aside, I heard it is a nice bull!
-
Ya...here's a picture of the rack....6X7. My buddy shot it at 40 yards with a bow. He drew 1 of 15 special elk permitts for the 418 - Nooksack unit. Our local Warden here says he thinks it will score at least in the top 3 of the state for an taken with a bow just because of the girth. He showed me some scouting video of a 9X9 in the same area 3 days before the season opened. That was the Bull he went after, but when he got there, this girthy 6 or 7 seven year old bull had taken the herd from him. So he harvested this one....and the very next day....the 9X9 was back.
-
Here's another one...........Timberlineduke
-
And one more.........Timberlineduke
-
A dandy bull for sure!!
-
nice bull! congrats to your buddy.
-
awesome bull whats the storry behind this one. special permit or what? if it was general raffle I WOULD LOVE TO SEE PEOPLE GETTING EXCITED OVER THIS ONE GOOD JOB.
-
BEEFY!!!
There sure are some monsters in there.
I ran across a few withing bow range last I...sure wish I could draw one of those tags!
-
Your right about that Bscman.......I put in for that tag to. they gave out 5 bow tags, 5 rifle tags and 5 muzzleloader tags. I wanted the rifle tag because while you're in there on your hunt, you can shoot anything else that is in season as well, as long as you have a tag. Bear, Cougar, etc....
He got to pick up keys to all the gates as soon as he was drawn to start scouting. He sure made good use of his chance.
-
Yes he did!
As close as we are to the herd, I find myself up there around this time every year just to watch, hear, and snap a few photo's of 'em.
Wishful thinking I guess.... :)
-
Congrats JB thats a great Bull, I'm happy ya got it before the Tribal hunters did. :rockin:
-
Great looking bull. Talk about mass. Is the 9X9 still alive?
-
whats the score? I WILL START 340. PICS COULD BE DECEIVING, THOUGH.
-
320
-
Right on! another local regular Joe kills a hog!! Niceley done! I'll second that 50 cal! Nice bull, very nice!
-
Thats a beautiful bull. do we have a longer version of the story? the nooksack will produce some amazing bulls for years to come...
-
all the bulls are gone in the nooksack. that 9x9, a fake.
-
What an awesome bull! Congratulations to the hunter! :brew:
A friend of mine and his cousin have rifle tags in there this fall, hopefully they can pull down something that nice.
-
Great animal.
Just a clarification. Did they change the distribution of tags for this season?
Last year it was 3 archery, 3 muzzle loader and 7 rifle.
Are you sure it's went up to 15 tags? split 5,5 and 5?
-
Sweet, I see a repeat of last year with a lot of big bulls coming out of there.
There are 3 archery, 3 muzz, and 7 rifle permits.
Thanks for putting up the pics Timberlineduke
-
Congrat's, thats sure a very beautiful Bull. I for one have yet to place a tag on a bull elk in all my years.
-
And another thing timberlineduke, when you are on Sierra property for an elk hunt it is illegal to shoot other game species. No bear, grouse, deer, nothing at all. Just a little info for ya...
-
as of this year, not last.

Hogsniper.....you're absolutely right....I knew that when I said it too....I stand corrected. I was thinking of last year. Last year you could do that, as well as anyone that was hunting with you in your vehicle.....but I heard of a few violations and some baiting to boot that put an end to that. Too bad some guys have to abuse a good thing.....just when we were making headway with Sierra too. :bash: :bash: :bash:
-
holy bull. that is a dandy for sure. :yike:
-
Sweet !!!!! Now thats a keeper :yike:
-

Hey Joe.....grow up....you're not fooling anyone.......the 418 Unit and the Nooksack area isn't a secret. From what I read from the guys on this site, they know what's up. I killed my first elk up there 10 years before you were born.....and the herd was huge then......it wasn't easy then and sure isn't any easier now......so lighten up you're not giving away anything that we don't already know.
-
Didnt know if John wanted his mug on the internet or not? Ive got some more pics Ill post later, the bull green scored out at around 364. The pics are not doing him justice. JK right theres no big bulls left up there now :)

All you have to do is ask John.....I did....he thinks it's great.......but then I guess it's suppose to be a secret...huh..... :chuckle:

-
keep the pissing match off of the boards, thank you.
back to the topic of this bull.
-
i was gonna post some pictures of the bulls that were taken out of there last year, to campare, but now i've lost my desire to.
-
Shake it off, no harrm no foul. Gotta have tougher skin if your gonna be haning around hunting forums. This is a great site but you will have a few pissing matches no matter what.
Lets see some more Nooksack bulls like you said you had pictures of!!!
Oh, and the one posted is a stud!!!
-
ok then,
-
some more
-
HOLLY MASS!! Dandy bulls!
I guess the tines were longer than I had thought, I way under guestimated the origional bull by a whole chit load :chuckle: DANG! :yike:
-
different bulls bucklucky. last years bulls from the same unit.
-
I was talking about the first bull pictured and I guessed 320, I think some one posted it scored 364? That score wasnt for the bull from this year?
-
i talked to john on the phone today, he said that he had it scored by 2 different people. one was 348 and one was 368, but he didn't really know for sure which was correct. either way, fantastic bull!
-
The Nooksack will continue to product some great bulls in the future. Thanks for posting
-
Nice pics Joe......thanks for sharing.....tell your brothers nice job.....did either of them have mounts done? :brew:
-
remember bucklucky i said 340 awesome bull.
-
Couple a pics for ya guys. :o
-
more
-
Those are all nice bulls.
-
I dunno, I really think the bull is only about a 300 bull......Tines arent very long.... Injuns have killed all the big ones.....
-
Definetly worth saving the hard earned points for the blues. :twocents:
-
My thoughts exactly...Blues better watch out next year...Im gonna draw a tag for sure!!!!
-
yeah, timberlineduke, they are both getting them mounted. both shoule be done anytime.
Is that Michael Trantham in those pics bearhunter?
-
Thanks Timberlineduke and Bearhunter for the pics, tell him congrats on a beautiful bull and a job well done. It's nice to see the regular guys succeed.
Brute
-
Ya, JK thats Michael.
-
Bottom line on this Bull is everyone of us would shoot it!! Hats off to Bihon!!! Might have not been 40 miles from a main road or had to hike to get it but sometimes you have to hunt closer to the road to kill animals! Nice Bull regardless
-
NICE BULL GRATE JOB
-
I jumped this guy early Saturday morning in 418....then ran into him again Sunday just after shooting light. Both times within 20-25yds.
By no means massive, but I'd consider him....
Sure wish I could come up with one of those archery tags....

Ya no whats cool about the bulls up there is there is no ground shrinkage when you walk up to them. The bulls bodys are so massive that it sometimes make the antlers look small. I bet that bull there has better mass then perceived through the camera. The genetics for mass are definetly in the herd up there. Nice pic, they sure are fired up now up there. Did you guys see any bear?
-
Great looking bulls for sure up there. That last one isn't the biggest but sure does lay out nicely.
-
Did you guys see any bear?
No bear, lots of sign though.
I haven't concentrated too hard on bear in the area we've been photographing elk, but there are definitely a few in there.
-
Anyone hear how the other archers are fairing with their hunt?
-
I have seen one other archery bull from there and it was one of those 'coulds waited for a bigger one but........deals.
