On wednesday I will be headed to New Mexico to meet up with a long time friend whom I haven't seen for 15 years.
He finally drew an AZ bull tag after 17 years of playing the waiting/contribution game. He and I only hunted together 2 years before his transfer in the military pulled him to Tuscon, then to Kirtland AFB in NM. He was an air rescue helicopter pilot and squadron commander right up to his retirement last april. He has served in many deployments around the world in all his years of service. The first year he and I bowhunted together he arrowed a beautiful 6x6 rosie bull, His first. The following year he was with me when I arrowed my first elk, a cow.
During those 2 years we formed a great friendship that included my introduction to waterfowl and upland bird hunting which was his passion as well as going to 3D shoots during the off season.
Our last hunt together was in Wyo for the 1997 deer season. We have stayed in contact through the years but were not able to mesh his schedule and mine. When I heard he drew his tag, I was eager to assist on this hunt of a lifetime.
I am looking forward to reconnecting with an old friend but more importantly, being a part of his memorable hunt.

Sounds like a good hunt upcomming. I am just racking up the points for AZ. Husband and wife friends of mine drew tags for the Kaibab this year and are down there now. Can't wait to hear your story and see the pics. Good Luck
