I ran into a guy at the gun range a while back that said he hunts Elk on Tekoa Mt. I have hunted birds outside of Tekoa for my whole life and I have never heard anything about Elk being up there. Anyone ever hunt there for Elk?
-
nope....

:dunno: did you ask him how he does? you can hunt elk anywhere but can't harvest elk anywhere
-
He said he has taken Elk up there. It would be great if I could hunt up there it would save me a ton of gas!
-
my guess would be "transients" from Idaho?
-
have a friend and well respected bowyer that used to hunt elk up there. has killed bulls there too. i would have never believed it if someone else had told me the same story.
-
occasional transient elk....., stick with the birds

Lived in Tekoa my whole life and have hunted that area for everything. There are elk there, but good luck getting permission. The whole Mt. is private property, with not state land anywhere close. The "Mt." is owned my multiple landowners and unless you know the property boundaries I wouldn't waste your time. Some of the property owners allow NO HUNTING at all, even the locals can't hunt some of the Mt.. Stick to the birds and play it safe. Also, once deer season opens the elk move out of that area.
