Sweet!

We'll have to get you out soon.
-
Bad ass man!! Curious what made you go with the sportjet? I've got one, but not sure if i would do it again or not. Can't say I don't like it, but not positive I'll have one on my next sled.
-
We have the older sportjet in the northriver we are upgrading from, and after weighing the options, it really is the most versatile. I wasn't willing to give up having a pump. We didn't really want to go V8, mainly because of the weight and the space it takes up. I didn't want to go outboard because of the fact that I fish the columbia a lot and a little in the ocean. Outboard pumps cavitate a lot when you get into rough water. I have a few buddies that are running the new 200 sportjet, and fuel economy is quite a bit better than the old ones. Also, after talking to willie and telling them I needed to have a pump, the sportjet is what they recommend for the forward helm raptor.

Original estimate was for the 1st of the year, so that is what I'm hoping for.

Nice!!!Willie Simply the Best!
-
Looking nice so far! Lots of diamond plate.
-
Very cool looking! Why the diamond plate on the outside side? Does it create much drag?

Never heard of anyone complaining about extra drag. I imagine if any, it would be insignificant. We went with it for a couple reasons....it helps to hide/resist scratches, and it looks cool 8)
-
It does look cool!
-
Awesome boat....thanks for sharing!
-
Thanks guys...I am getting anxious for it to be done.
-
All painted up sitting in the rigging shop.
-
Looking good Brent, looking good, what is the end date for delievery?

Not sure. I didn't get a chance to call them today. Originally it was supposed to be done the first of the year. Need to call them tomorrow and see how far out we are.
-
As long as it is ready for Springers...... What about top - all canvas or a half metal top?
-
Must see pics of that thing runnin and gunnin!!!
-
Full canvas top. I like having the ability to remove completely while out on the water if the wind kicks up.
-
Spoke with Chuck yesterday. He said ~7 days in the rigging shop and then 2 days to build the top. Probably looking like the last week of this month :IBCOOL:
-
Sweet Boat !! But wherees the ghost flames 8)

When we started looking, our current boat was a 2001 NorthRiver Sportster. It was 20' long, and the floor was only about 68-70" wide with a 10-12* Vee all the way through. Needless to say, you got beat up when there was choppy water. So, we knew we wanted a longer, wider, deeper v boat that could still run the smaller rivers we like to fish. So, next step was compare the different brands that offered models close to what we were looking for.
ThunderJet - IMO, overpriced. Would have had to go V-8, and by the time you upgrade to the 3-stage pump, the price really starts to climb. Would have paid more for a TJ than what we paid for this Willie.
Alumaweld - Not bad boats, but they are mass produced so their finish work is lacking. Price would have been about equal to the price we paid for the Willie, and not nearly the options.
NorthRiver - We didn't look that hard at the, but would have probably been more expensive than a Willie, and IMO, no more "boat for your money" than a Willie.
Weldcraft - Wasn't that impressed and would have cost more than a Willie.
So, all things considered, once it came down to it, it was really a no-brainer to go with the Willie. Then it was a choice between the Raptor and the Predator. Again, easy choice going to the Raptor for the deeper entry V for running the Columbia.
-
Thanks!
-
sweet sweet boat, congrats. now just to get her decks bloody
-
Made the 6 hour drive down last night, picked up this morning, and then dropped it in Clackamas to have the TR-1 installed. Will be picking it up from them on Friday. I can't wait for the maiden voyage.
-
Looks like a nice one. They are spendy to purchase new these days. :yike:
-
Looks sweet! All she needd is a little blood and slime and you got a fishing machine
-
-Beauty of a boat brent!
-
Thanks Chris. I'm sure I'll see ya down trolling around in a few weeks.
-
Nce Boat Brent.
-
Assume your getting the TR-1 installed at PDX Marine. Make sure you know what battery your TR-1 is powered on. And keep it charging while trolling. TR-1's are sweet until you have low voltage. Then they do wierd things.
My boat took off once at full throttle in the Ghost hole in Oct. :yike:
Also, if your getting the wireless remote set-up. keep it dry!!!! They are a POS and you will remove it. Garenteed. I have an extra if you want it. Lol
Nice boat though! Always wanted a Raptor!
-
Yep, PDX Marine is doing the instal. They are going to wire the T8 an the TR-1 to the same battery so that it stays charging while trolling. We have two wireless remotes but have never used them. Everyone I have talked to said they aren't that great. Todd called me this morning and told me the boat would be done this afternoon, so it looks like I'm picking it up tomorrow. The guys down there rock :IBCOOL:
-
You can up the wireless lives a bit by siliconing them together as well the buttons.
Any moisture and there toast.
Save them for summer, and use your wired remote.
-
What rivers do you plan to use it in? And, do you plan to side drift? One problem I've seen is that running the kicker can be a pain with an inboard.
-
Very nice boat Brent... Congrats

Cow, chehalis, Columbia...I don't do a ton of free drifting, but the motor cover isn't a huge issue. You just cast over it. The kicker is in the same spot as it would be if you had an outboard. :twocents:
-
Plus this is a Sportjet, it weighs the same as an outboard, the motor cover is tiny, and it has a TR-1.
Just set your gains high for the TR-1 to side drift. It will act WAY faster to correct.
-
Nice the top of the dash looks trick the way Gage bezels fade into the top of the dash.
-
Brent it is awesome looking, can't wait to see it with net dipping along the side..... Very, very nice for sure...
-
Thanks Mike.
Had a little setback on Wednesday...the TR1 wouldn't calibrate and Todd said that typically means the compass ball went bad. :bash: New compass ball installed and he should be out on the water calibrating it as I type this so I can pick up this afternoon.
-
Awesome! congrats an good fishing
