When they switched over to the new system (a few years ago) they took my 4 elk points and gave me 4 points in all elk catagories. Since then I only applied in 2 of the catagories. Now I want to apply for a catagory that I haven't applied for since the change.
Are the 4 points still available in this catagory or am I back to zero?

You still have your points in all categories.

You can also apply for just a point if you don't want to draw a permit in that category. This way you can build points in those years you don't want to or can't hunt.

iii. An applicant's accumulated point totals, immediately prior to sales of the 2010 permit applications, will be replicated across all categories for that species. The point replication will only occur in 2010, during the transition from single species categories to multiple categories of the same species. Applicants for any new category added in the future will begin with the point awarded at the time of the initial application purchase.

Thanks everybody. Quality elk will probably never be reality, but hey... I bought ONE power ball ticket today.
