Title: Dropped an antler already
Post by: canyelk48 on December 03, 2012, 05:17:52 PM: Took this photo today of these two bulls. Anyone ever see an elk drop an antler as early as December??? Don't know if this bull dropped an antler, lost it due to an injury or just didn't grow a right side antler. Thoughts??

He was running around with a herd of 200 or so elk.

I've seen Blacktail well into May still packin too.

You are right. Nothing is set in stone. Bucks harvested in november with velvet still on. Does with antlers. Calf elk with spots in the winter. Shooting a buck in october, then having his antlers drop as you drag him out. Spike elk who don't drop all year. Many, many things in nature you can't figure.
