Could you be a little more specific then just Washington?
Like eastside or westside for starters?
The accuracy of these have been questioned to death on here due to honest reporting, byt have a look see here as to where animals are hitting the dirt....  http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/harvest/ (http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/harvest/)

You will find that a lot of people (Not everyone) will not be willing to give too much information to people who just come out and ask on their first post. If you are a newbie and looking for some advise, look at the harvest reports on wdfw website and look through the regulations to find open units and areas that do not require a permit to hunt. If you have any more questions, send me a PM.  Good luck and If you are willing to do some searching and footwork you will find them!

I assume he is a new hunter, sincerely asking for some help. What is he supposed to post - the hunts he hasn't taken?

Let's give him some guidance.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me places in Washington to hunt Elk.

Around Mt. Rainer and Mt. Saint Helens are all good areas.  Anywhere there are big hills, mountain like with deep valleys and good food that looks really elky, that would be a great starting area.  Best of luck.

Do you have a set of game regs?  Look under elk and it lists all the GMU's where you can hunt them.  That may be another way to locate them.

Maybe because he stated he was a new hunter in his first sentence?   :chuckle:

He comes back with a little more detail on his prefered elk hunting locale in lieu of the generic "Washington", I too will drop him a PM and head him in direction.

If your wanting to hunt in Skagit County which is where you live you wont be hunting Elk unless you draw a Nooksack tag or you become a Master hunter. You need to give us more info before we can help you such as Eastside/Westside Etc...

I have also been doing research and have found that GMU437 is part of the skagit river area so does that conflict at all

No Elk hunting in 437. If your wanting to hunt Western Elk during general season you basically need to be somewhere South of I-90 or jump on a Ferry & hunt somewhere on the Olympic Peninsula. All the info you need is in the Game laws.
