>:( Well the last two days I've had someone running my rat line before I get there. Today I moved the entirline except for 3 traps. A total of 14 traps have been pulled up on the bank, Traps that were well concealed and producing over the week, the traps that were in the open and not producing were left alone. One trap was stepped on and bent up a little but repairable.
I will be calling F&W in the morning and informing them of whats going on, maybe they will put in a presense at the parking area.
-
Technology ....set up a trailcam and catch them :dunno:
-
might lose the trail cam.
-
Another pissed off trapper thinking you took over his spot :dunno: report it anyways
-
That is messed up! I hope they get caught.
-
You can spend time trying to catch the guy,use a trail camera if you can to record vehicles going into the parking area. Or don't waste any more time and energy and pull out. Wouldn't want to catch the guy myself because I'm not sure what I'd do if I did, so I'd pull out and move on.
-
Already moved the traps Bob. Was planning on doing that this weekend, This just made me do it quickly.
-
So the jerk won? Some how he needs to get caught and dealt with or he'll do it to someone else. Also some other jerk may do it now too. :twocents:
-
Give him a good whoopin'. LE won't do squat, low priority.
-
Parking area?
-
I was going to say something along the lines of: A trap setup like Wiley coyote would put up for road runner!!!! but I better not :chuckle:
-
set a trap for him! :chuckle:
-
Iceman, I think pnwmntmn is trapping a public access area, he stated he hoped the game dept would make a presence at the parking area. So if the person checking the traps has to park in the same area possible they will see him.
-
I HATE Johnny Sneekum!!
-
Lightly bury one of those giant bearclaw traps where he has to step on the trigger to get to one of your smaller traps

Yeah, let's not suggest this... :nono:

Some anti-hunter / anti-trapper loses a leg to this and you think the libs in King County will be upset?
-
Yes, I am trapping in a pubic area 3 miles long 1/2 mile wide. Small parking area at the south end.
Let's not suggest those big "bearclaw" traps as they are worth too much money to be wasting on some lowlife.
hopefully I solved this problem by moving all my traps.
-
Ok agreeed they are expensive so don't know if you are old enough to have served in VN but bury some pungi sticks
-
No I'm not enough to have served in Nam, but I know what pungi sticks are and the ground is either swamp or rock.
-
can I get your name and number, a buddy of mine lives there and said he will keep an eye out and try to help you out as well.
-
Had fun today as I was the firast person to check my traps today. brought home 3 rats, still need to move a few traps into better locations but that is tomorrow.
-
Is a rat a beaver? Or a muskrat. Sorry for the stupid question just see trappers talk about rats and never know what they mean.

Muskrat... I asked the same question and I've trapped them before!!
-
I doubt its anoter trapper, there are just unwritten or in this case written laws.....
oh heck, what am I saying. There are way too many a$$hats out there.
-
rats are muskrats.
-
Hey Bone, we all long for the good 'ol days when men had honor.....
-
Well I just bought a couple cage traps for beaver...not cheap. Set one out in a small creek >:( off the road a ways...gone first check. I heard a rig drive by on the logging road while I was setting. It would have been hard to find if you weren't looking. There are so many opportunistic losers around these days.

What type of cage? Could it have washed away? Got pulled away? I have found mine down stream several times. Put out the word. Certain kinds are rare so if someone comes up with one it would be VERY easy to find out if he bought it.
-
Could not have washed away the water had dropped... but I am thinking that perhaps it got pulled away...I did not see signs of struggle and it was about eight ft from the main creek in a feeder creek. Going back with chestwaders if the water continues to drop. I was thinking if I caught a beaver or otter by the tail he could go aways before getting loose.
-
Hopefully the trap is merely pulled into deeper water and notcarried away by "Johnny Sneakum"
-
Hoping the animal moved the trap and you find both.
-
So, you guys can't use leg hold? here in Oregon I set leg hold with a drownder slide that way the rat or mink are under water and stone dead when I get there. Big plus is they are out of sight most times.
-
No legholds allowed!!!! really sucks!!!!!!!!! cages only!!!!!!!! really sucks!!!!!!!!!!
-
yes, but look at the bright side...we can smoke pot while setting out cages :chuckle:
