Don't hate me! Just trying to get you fellers all worked up for elk hunting! :chuckle:
These were 2 bulls my brother and I took on the same piece of property in the Eatonville area, both 6x6's!
This was our FIRST TIME hunting elk!!!! We have been hooked ever since! I was scanning some old pics and forgot I had this one in the pile.
I hope you are invigorated for your hunts!!

PS. I sure looked a lot thinner back then.......

I have dreamed of doing just that with my Father for the last 40 years. To date we have yet to fullfill that dream, in fact its been more years than I can count since we have shared an Elk harvest. Dad will be 75 this season and he tells me it may be his last as he just cant get around like he use too...........maybe, just maybe this will be our year :)
Nice pictures and would love to hear the story behind that day.

I am right with you. My dad is 59 this year with a couple of back surgeries. We hunt together every year. Sometimes I get frustrated because I have to wait for him and limit how far I can hike in but it is worth it to share the time together. So far no luck. Last year would have been our first but someone shot the one I shot first. He dropped it so he got it. This year we switched to archery. Keep our fingers crossed, headed out tomorrow night for the weekend

I am on the left, this was in '92, strange thing about it though is that this was the first of 3 doubles on elk my brother and I have done! The second was again archery, late season in the Mossyrock unit in '99 we took 2 cows out of the same herd about 3 minutes apart and 75 yards from each other! The third time was 2003 on a rifle hunt in the John Day area of eastern OR, opening day we split up and we both got on a herd, he shot a spike and 5 minutes later I shot a 2pt., we were about 1 1/2 miles apart, and were done by 8 am!!!
Those are some incredible memories!!!
