Caught a 53# beaver on the Mighty Skookumchuck yesterday. The water level keeps going up and down, so I placed the trap on the high bank instead of the shelf near the water. The old castor cage set worked. Thanks Trapperguy22 for the tip on using the higher bank.

Nice Beaver!!! :chuckle:

Cool. All we caught were possums. They don't skin up nice like your beaver. Nice one!

Very nice Karen, What size traps are you using
-
Very cool!
-
This was a Hav a Hart 1081 (reinforced w/ cage clips and hog rings). 15"x15"x36". I used a handful of mud and leaves in the back of the cage and a gob of castor on a stick.
-
So what do you do with it?
-
Skin it flesh it and put in the round on a hoop or a round piece of plywood that fits it
-
That is very cool... Congrats on a huge beaver.
-
So what do you do with it?
Tan it. Make a garment out of it. Meat is outstanding bobcat bait. Sell the fur.

Nice to see I wasn't the only one with a dirty ole mind! :chuckle: Who doesn't like chasing beaver?!?!? :chuckle:
Nice beaver by the way and :sry: to get off topic.

That's a dandy

Very nice. How do you keep catching these big boys? Hopefully you did not have to drag it to far. (that would make a nice skull) I have a small beaver skull, unique bone structure. I think it the Zygoma that is oversized.

The biggest hoops I have wont stretch a real big beaver. 40" hoops are the biggest I've been able to find. Most all beaver over 50 lbs wont fit on a 40" hoop. I'm thinking about making some that will stretch out to 48".

Awesome  I'm beginning to get a strong urge to start trapping again. I havn't done it since high school, and really had no desire to do it without leg hold traps.
Got my trapper card when I was 14-15 yrs old back in 84-85. Wdf should still have record of that shouldn't they?

Yes they should. If you ever had a trapping license for sure they will have a record of that.
