Title: Left Handed Rifles
Post by: The100Road on December 19, 2012, 02:58:38 PM
Im in the market for a new rifle. I want it to be left handed so ive found that my options are somewhat limited. Im leaning towards the Browning x-bolt in a 300mag cal. ive also looked at the browning BAR but cant get over the clip. (i like the straight pop in rather then the drop down plate)

Does anyone have any suggestions on left handed hunting rifles in a 300cal?

Id like the bolt action to have a clip or a semi auto to have the straight in load rather then the flip plate.

Thank you.

They are drop plates though not clip feed.

Savage has 2 LH models in 300 Mag (3 if you count the WSM) with a DBM. Wood and synthetic stock versions.

where to start, weatherby markv C from the custom shop, rem 700c all long actions, browninga-x bolts, savage, tikka makes a bunch cheap feeling though, ruger no clips, winchester model88-100 lever&semi. ALL ARE GOOD, BUY THE ONE YOU LIKE AND CAN AFFORD AND STILL BUY GOOD OPTICS. HOPE THIS HELPS!

I'm a lefty and a fresh convert to the Savage 111 cult.

I hunted with a BAR for a lot of years.   Being lefty was no big deal with that, and the flip door didn't bother me.

But my new 111 shoots way better than my BAR ever did.

With a sample size of 1 each, I'm now convinced that Savage is the way to go.

not easy to find but not impossible either are new "pre-64" Winchesters built on the classic sporter action.

I found 2 in 30-06 & saw another in 7 WSM, got one of mine new in box from Cabela's in Billings MT. got the other new in box at a pawn shop in Spokane. saw the WSM in Billings Cabela's too but not at the same time. saw one in 30-06 on gunbroker but it quickly went over $1700 when auction got close to end

Do you know if the Savage 111 comes in a wood stock?

I can attest to savages capabilities.  I'm a lefty and purchased a lefty savage 110 in .270 last year and it shoots very well.  Haven't had an issue yet putting down various animals.  mines woodstock

I've had to use a righty rifle for I don't know how many years......I got so used to shooting with a righty in the Marines that it transferred over to civvie life and after all these years I finally bought a lefty rifle and i was a little puzzled and had to retrain myself on the new adjustments. :chuckle:  At first I shot better the old way but, after many rounds I still shoot the same tight groups but, actually using a lefty rifle for a lefty shooter. :chuckle:  so now i'm just as good shooting both as well. :chuckle:

I just  got a lefty tikka lite in .270.  I'm a fan.  I like the trigger and it's about .5-.75 pounds lighter then most of the competitiors at 6.3 lbs.  Which makes a difference if you plan on carrying it a ways.

I am left handed and have two savage guns. They are some of the most accurate guns out of the box and the price is excellent. I won't shoot any  thinks else for factory guns.
