I wish I could hunt off of my old feet like I used to be able to do. My buddy loves those Honda's, great ATVs. Mine is for riding roads in the summer.
-
This is what I get to drive at work. I don't have one for myself :'(. This thing plowed through at least 3 feet of powder.
-
I'd love to have tracks on mine.
-
I am sure you have all seen it, but I like my Rancher. Hauls dead animals, pushes cows, pulls sleds for the kids to ride in the snow, carries my fence fixing crap when the Uncle needs help, good mpg for long trail rides. Good dependable rig.
-
Hopefully I'll have a wolf in mine from Idaho to post this year.
-
Hey Russ,
What brand of trac are on that machine?
-

I figured out in the fresh powder if u gotta pee don't step out or u will sink up past your waist hahhahaha

This little buck filled the freezer. My big animals usually come out on my back where my Rancher wont go. :chuckle: I test drove an Arctic Cat when I was in the market for my Rancher. It felt like the Arctic Cat had to rev up and stretch a rubber band before it would make any power and go. The instant power when I hit the gas sold me on the Rancher.

one of many I've hauled on my can-am.
-
Norsepeak, thats by far the best pic! I won't even ask how you got that bull up there :o Oh by the way I think your back tire is low. :chuckle:

We have another cage for just the front seats, and we remove the back row of seats so we can use the dump bed.
It is handy to have two roll cages but a pain to have to store one.
We do a few family ATV trips so we need both.

You're freaking washelkhunter out with those photos. :):)

Don't drink and ride your quad, or you'll be like this guy :chuckle:
he rolled it multiple times down over those logs and yes he was with the quad all the way to the bottom tumbling with it. He had drunk person luck I guess because he wasn't hurt. Chainsaw a few logs out the way and he rode it out.
Chris, was this near Northport ? I talked to the DNR cop that lives up there and he told me that a disabled guy was stuck under his ATV for 6 hours because he couldn't get his ATV off of him.

Guys With Tracks,
Have you run any of your tracks for extended mileage and years of use?
I could use some but they would get a lot of miles, I need to know if they will take the miles?
THANKS for any info.....

How many miles are you talking about Dale ?
Maybe 50 to 150 miles per day, total maybe 60 days per winter but some days will get cut short (we hope) so maybe 3000 to 5000 mles annually.

I'll ask a guy I know that owned a shop in Okanogan. He'll give me a straight answer. I'll let you know.
-
Uncle Dale,
Here's the answer to your question about tracks. My friend said you can run tracks for 3-5000 miles per year, but, he said to make sure they are adjusted every 200 mikes to take the slack out of them.
He said if you're going to run that many miles, you should buy MATTRACKS instead. $3500 for the first ones or $7000 for the MATTRACKS. MATTRACKS are made for vehicles, like pickups, Hummers, ATV, UTV etc.
-
Here's mine that I picked up in February to use on the duck hunting property. I may also trailer it north for a moose hunt someday. Haven't been able to get it stuck yet. 7 girls piled in and took it for a spin back in the spring and we could hear them squealing 1/2 mile away. And it floats.
-
That's a cool looking Argo.
-
That is kind of like the one they use on Duck Dynasty in one episode. When Phil Bradshawed Jase and the boys to his secret fishing hole.
-
Always wanted a set of tracks for myself, been around them a lot so I know the pro's and cons.
the tracks are really niche, 90% of the year they pretty much suck when compaired to an ATV on rubber, or a snowmobile.
Tracks really shine early spring, when down low the roads are soft or muddy then as you climb they get snowed in.
Can't get much further with a rubber tired ATV and you can't ride the dirt for 5 miles on a snowmobile to get to the snow.
Tracks are nice on the soft roads because they don't disturb the road bed or leave ruts, my bighorn radials 2.0 don't either, but some guys running those super aggressive bias ply mudders tend to toss a fair bit of dirt :chuckle:
If you guys aren't running or been around the bighorn 2.0 radial tires do you self a favor and strongly consider them for your next atv tire, they are really good!
I was riding circles around guys with their mudlites and various other mudder tires in the soft spring snow. They might be able to power through a 4 foot deep mudhole but heck when do any hunters look for 4 foot deep mudholes?
I don't reccomend these tires for sport riding or aggressive riding if you plan on drifting around corners on the dirt road, they hook up too well :chuckle:

Bad thing about Bighorns there cowboy, is, they are 4 ply. I got rid of mine and put 8 ply Roctanes on my yellow rocket.
-
Are tracks legal on the snowmobile trails where rigs on tires are not? I believe that to be the case.

I'll still drive circles around you and that yellow pig you got there :chuckle:

I've heard that the game warden over here think so.... :dunno:
-

Yes they are. Wording is tracked machines. Rigs with tracks are good to go as well.
-
I was told with our rino it's not allowed in snow parks because its not steered by skis it has all 4 tracks
-
Hmmm. I doubt that, but who knows these days. I get so sick and tired of keeping up with new rules and regulations AND PASSES, that I honestly don't pay too much attn to them. Tracked machines is was, last time I checked though. :dunno:
-
KLR-650 hunting/scouting rig serves it's purpose well. Not an ATV/UTV but I do not worry about somebody wearing green jeans giving me a ticket pad work-over either.
-

No, they are not. The RCW states that to be considered an "over-the-snow" vehicle the vehicle must use a ski or skis for steering. I've seen some guys make up a bracket to mount a little tiny ski on the outside of the tracks that touches the ground to "meet" the standard.
