Wife got me a 100x400 EF f/4.5-5.6 IS USM canon L series for my EOS REBEL T2I for X-mas. the darn thing i attatched it to the camara body and it does not seem to want to focus. i took a couple of photos and it worked fine then nothing i can not even manual focus it. is this common whit these type of lenses ??? or what could i be doing wrong ??? I know it's not the camara body if i put on one of the lenses that came with the camera it works fine. :dunno: :dunno:

So sorry to hear that 308! :( Is it a new lens or a used lens? It is not normal for any lens that is for sure! :( Ifit is new, take it back immediately! If it's a used lens, your wife got taken to the cleaners and needs to contact the seller to get her money back!
What it sounds like to me the Auto focus gave up the ghost! :( A trip to Canon for Non-warranty repair of that unit will cost you about $350.

Our Canon 300 IS L quit working. We called the following number:
Technical Support by Product Line Phone Number
EOS Digital SLR Camera Systems, EF Lenses & Flashes 800-OK-CANON 800-652-2666
Call them and ask. I would also call Amazon and find out that they would do to make you happy!
Stuff can happen in shipping very easily, especially the way they throw things around in shipping centers and onto trucks!

Sounds like it didnt focus in the beginning. May be a compatability issue

All turned out well she got the lense thru AMAZON and i simply call them up told them the issue the next day another lense was at my door step with all the paper work to return the orginal. The second one works great no problems at all. Now i just need to learn how to us it correctly. I've taken a 100 or so photos with it and i'm very impressed with the quility of the pic even if i'm taking them. When i get some worthy of posting i'll do so as i've only been tinkering with photo hobbie for about a year and i'm find there is more to it then just pointing a camera pushing a button on a point and shoot
