Title: Smoker house build question.
Post by: atfulldraw on December 26, 2012, 10:09:55 AM
I was going to be helping a buddy build a smoke house and he can get cedar very cheap and we were wondering if it would be a good option or not? Any help would be great, thanks.

Cedar is a great choice. I used pine only because it was 1/3 the price of cedar. Build away!!!

What would be the best way to season it?

Just smoke the "yit" out of it ahead of time. Run multiple pans of wood through the smoker prior to smoking your first batch of meat...

I haven't gone blind yet?!  After I'm done rubbing my meat and reached the peak of being done I let my meat rest for awhile before I touch it again!LOL. Time when were you going to tell me you were working on a smoker?  I couldve brought mine and we couldve smoked out for the day and not marijuana. :chuckle:

A question for y'all that have stand up ones, how did y'all make your racks?
I used one by twos an am thinkin I need to sturdy it up a lil more, with ply wood cut to fit the top of the rack or another set of one by twos to fit just inside the racks

will the glue in the press board affect the meat that is smoked?   :dunno:
