Got this in my email just 5 minutes ago....notice what is in bold letter.
Dear 2012 Hunting License Buyer:
A hunter report is required for each deer, elk, bear, turkey tag, and each special hunt permit awarded . The reports are required whether or not you harvested an animal or hunted at all. You must report by midnight, January 10, 2013 to be entered to win a deer or elk license and permit that would allow you to hunt for that species from September to December of 2013. The report deadline is January 31st 2013 in order to avoid a $10 administrative fee when you purchase your 2013 license.
If your special permit allows you to hunt beyond January 31st 2013, your hunter report is due within 10 days of the close of that season.
WDFW understands that you may have attempted to report already; however, as of December 21, 2012 , our records indicate that you had not reported on all of your tags and/or permits. To report, please visit https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/Hunterreport or call toll free at 1-877-945-3492 . You will need your WILD ID number, the Game Management Units you hunted, number of days hunted, and if/when/what you harvested.
You should record and file your confirmation number for EACH report filed, this is the only way we can verify that you submitted a report for each tag and permit.
Reports are not accepted by mail or email; please do not send in your transport tags.
Thank you for your help.

I guess that is incentive to do you report before the 10th.

just finished mine. I got the same reminder.
Humbling to remind myself how piss poor of a hunter I am. :chuckle:
-
it was the ssame last year, had to report by 10th to put in for special tags
-
The website has been acting funny for me.

I can understand doing you report so you can put in for tags but it is saying win a tag. So I take that as being entered into a drawing? :dunno: did they do that last year because I don't remeber seeing that.

that's incorrect. It only applies to the incentive tag.
-
anybody care to explain what incentive tags are? i guess ive never read that part, always just look at the seasons and rules to make sure im not screwing up

I am not 100% but my take on it is that if you get you report in on or before the 10th you get thrown in a drawing. If you get drawn you get a tag/permit to hunt either elk or deer from Sept to Dec. I would take it as a multi season tag but that is a guess :dunno:
-
well thats something. i just reported this morning. maybe ill get the elk one huh? have a funny feeling i wont get drawn for the multi elk this year either.
-
Basically you get to hunt either deer or elk from September 1st through December 31st. You can only use a weapon that is legal during the season that Is open at the time. If there is no season open then you can use any legal weapon.
-
I never saw it last year but that was the first year I had hunted here in WA so I was still learning.

you positive about that? can hunt between seasons with the incentive tag? sounds pretty amazing.

If you look at the regs there is a continuous general season from the beginning of archery season in Sept until December 31st. That is general archery, muzzy and rifle.

he said if there is no season open.... so for instance in the 2012 regs.. oct 8-12 no whitetail open in unit 121... way he said it makes it sound like with the incentive tag id be able to hunt whitetail there those days, with any legal weapon. sounds too good to be true then it must be huh?
-
still finding nothing about incentive tags in the reg pamphlet

I see where you coming from. I think what they are saying is you can hunt deer or elk in GMU's that are open to hunt in during general seasons. So no you can't hunt in 121 during those days. Those dates are for elk season for muzzies from Oct 6-12 in 121.
-
sounds to me like you can hunt during those days as long as there is a special permit hunt going on.
-
It is like the governor's tag, but way cheaper........... 8)
-
You can hunt Sep 1 through Dec 31. A season does not have to be open, but if one is you must comply with the respective weapon restrictions.
-
any idea how many of those they hand out?
-
Well cool I guess I was wrong and that is a good thing :chuckle:
-
ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :bash: :bash: :bash: Most people get reminded but no sense in trying to lower our odds any more by reminding them. I love procrastinators, they improve our chances of drawing tags!!
-
any idea how many of those they hand out?
Two Eastern elk, two Western elk, five deer.
-
any idea how many of those they hand out?
I believe only 2 for each side, any elk and 5 any deer statewide. bob beat me to it.
-
All I got is my deer to report and that will be in after this weekend.
-
its odd that they would email me telling me to do my hunter report AFTER i did it...
-
Did you do all your tags? Like Turkey, bear, deer, elk? You may want to double check and see if the system registered them too.
-
did em all, went back to do em again, and had no options of tags to report on..... so on another note, lets bump a bunch of other threads to get this one off the recent threads list? why remind people right? id like one of those eastern elk tags

-
hey bearpaw..... delete this thread will ya?

:yeah: When they say Incentive permits are valid for areas open to general hunting seasons or special permit hunting seasons they don't actually have to be open at the time. They just have to be open at some point during the year to either a general season or permit season. Basically they are saying you can't hunt a GMU that doesn't allow for any deer or elk hunting such as 490 and 522 for deer or 437 and 490 for elk.

sweet thanks on more guy to compete against in the drawing just reported mine :IBCOOL: LOL
-
Warning! Make sure you get the exact dates right that coincide with the notch you cut out on your deer tag. A friend of mine got a citation when WDFW checked his deer at the taxidermy and it was one day off from what he reported. Both dates were legal deer seasons but he just guessed when he reported instead of calling the taxidermist to check the exact dates.
I was amazed at this citation. Now I see why some people just refuse to let them know you even got a deer at all.
This is true, I checked out the citation in person because I didn't believe him.

:o Wow. I never knew the exact date was so important to them. I would have done the same thing (guessed at the date).

That is so ridiculous. I can't believe a gamie would do that. What a turd.
-
What did he cite him for?

Thanks for the reminder I completley forgot.
