I'd like to take this opportunity to say "Thanx" to those who cut ALL the brush off the north end of the ridge at the widgeon hole spot up McAllister Cr. All of it!!!
Do you really think that all that brush grows back every weekend?
Selfish, self centered jerks is all I can think of at this point.
Besides clearing all the brush that the rest of us hunt from, beer cans(Pabst), empty shotgun shells and lunch debris littered the area.
I also appreciate the nice display of the dead(wasted)hen bufflehead spread eagle'd in the brush up in the air for everyone to see.
If this is directed at you, kick yourself in the groin so the rest of us can feel better.
If you know who this is directed at, kick them in the groin and leave them home next trip.
Hunters have a tough path to follow as it is without folks like this destroying the resources and giving the tree huggers reason to close these areas.
For the rest of you: Not meaning to ruin your day, just expressing my frustration.
After 46 yrs of hunting with some of the most conservation minded folks around, I'ver learned a lot and have set some strict standards for myself and my fellow hunting partners. Much of what I see the last few years by others is nothing short of insane. I pick up trash and empty shells(other folks') every trip and put it in the zippered bag under my stool. Most trips it gets filled.
Please folks, I know some of you reading this are out there witnessing this type of behavior. Say something, do something. Put a stop to it. Turn them in to the law. It has to end before we lose every area accessible to us.

It is pretty sad to say the least what you see out in the field these days, there are places up in Elbe where my dad took me shooting when I was just a little sap, well I won't take my kids there cause its just flat embarrassing , mycousinand I went up there and hauled a truckload to the dump out of our own pocket which is no biggy, we got stopped by a Gammie and he accused us of the ones dumping, it took sometime to show him that we actually were the ones cleaning it up ,we'll anyways a month later you couldn't tell we ever cleaned it up, if there are any of you slobs on here, you should go close your head In a damn door

Much of the McAllister Creek area is under the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge and owned by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Check out this map and see if thats where your spot is: http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Nisqually/map.html (http://www.fws.gov/refuge/Nisqually/map.html)
If your spot is in that light green colored area you are on USFWS lands. If this is the case call the refuge and ask to speak with the Federal Wildlife Officer. The USFWS has a USFWS Federal Wildlife Officer based out of Nisqually who oversees all refuge law enforcement in Western WA, but also patrols Nisqually.

I never realized south of I-5 was part of the refuge too. Noticed that at the posted map link.
Never hunted out at nisqually but want too.
I just don't know if a 55 lb thrust trolling motor on a sixteen foot John boat would cut it.
Thanks for helping do what others should have done in the first place sake shooter.
It's been the same way for us this year picking up the empty hulls and such from others.

I never realized south of I-5 was part of the refuge too. Noticed that at the posted map link.
If you are referring to the land west of I-5 near Littlerock that is the Black River unit of the Nisqually Refuge and is closed to public access.
Under federal law all national wildlife refuges are closed to public access unless a refuge manager opens it.

I was meaning the farmland on the opposite side of I-5 from nisqually delta is listed as part of the refuge for nisqually according to the map from the link you posted. I never thought you could hunt the refuge though. I just didn't know they considered the farmlands the refuge. I was talking about hunting the salt where everyone else goes.

Big Tex, I have spoken to the Federal Agent. His name and number has been programed in my phone for years. I've reported many violations to him over the years but he is only one man with lots of area to cover unfortunately. He also has to catch them first hand.
I've also contacted the refuge manager in the past but his response has that they don't have the manpower.
Unfortunately the sports I participate in are not policed like many of the popular sports of today. Football, baseball etc have referees and umpires at every event to keep everyone straight.

The land across I-5 is NOT part of the refuge. It is ALL private and you better not get caught there.
The other area listed near Kuhlman rd has no access and it not huntable as there are houses in there.

We are speaking of two different people. The Federal Wildlife Officer who covers Nisqually is new this year (the officer who previously held this position was Adam Hurt). I think you may be speaking of the USFWS Special Agent out of Lacey, he conducts more in depth investigations.
The individual you would need to speak to is the Federal Wildlife Officer, not the Special Agent....

Are you looking at the same map? The map I posted is a map you can zoom in on and it shows USFWS lands as green. It doesn't show the approved refuge boundary. There is only one area of USFWS lands South of I-5.
An "approved refuge boundary" is differen then the actual refuge. Private lands within the approved boundary are still held in private ownership, all it does is allow the USFWS to try and purchase the lands when they are up for sale. In order to be "on the refuge" you need to be on the green colored lands.

The map I was looking at was the refuge trail map at your link. A different map did not pop up because I don't have adobe flash player installed.
Thanks for clarifying the difference between the refuge and approved refuge. I was a little confused.

I spoke with the new Federal Wildlife Officer this morning on the phone. Adam has taken another position. I also left another message on the WDFW Access Manager's phone and the WDFW Enforcement person for this area's phone. This call was mainly for a group of 'poachers' hunting(shooting lots of shells) inside of the refuge on the Nisqually side way inside of the boundary way past the signs that are posted on 4x4s.
The new Federal Wildlife Officer said I could pass his number along so anyone that wants it, PM me please.
