well, at least i hit the target. never tried shooting a longbow before, and have done very little compound shooting. i think this is going to have a bit more of a learning curve.

Nice work. Keep shooting it will get better
-
Warning! Stick bows can be addicting!
Nice work, keep up the practice. Looks like you need to cant you bow a little. Could be a release or a spine issue also. But, to have a pattern like that on your first try is pretty darn good.

You forgot to mention that this was at 200 yds! :chuckle: :chuckle:

is a stick bow slang for a recurve? either way thats a good group i would imagine

Deaner...are you shooting down at your target or are the arrows all entering the target at that angle? If it's the latter, then you need to change your nocking point, and/or brace height.

I was going to say it looked like 5 yrds :dunno:
-
Not at all bad for your first set. Stick with it - there's nothing like hunting with a traditional bow. Pretty much the ultimate form of big game hunting. You'll love it.

I would love to get a group together and
1. Pick out a few sticks of viny maple each,
2. Dry it out as a group,
3. Make our own bows,
4. Get them shooting
I have not clue how to do any of this but I am very interested in do it. I even have a draw knife.

thanks tree killer, changed my nocking point, arrows dont go in that way now. i dont know anybody who shoots trad bows other than my brother who made it for me, and he lives in california. so all my "tech support" comes over phone or email. glad you pointed that out for me. been shooting every day that im home during daylight hours, and getting significantly better groups and shooting from varying distances and angles. im finding that shooting a bare longbow is much more enjoyable than shooting a compound bow with peep sights, pins, releases etc. figure on burning through this insert on the first target in pretty short order

Glad I could help deaner! There's always little tricks and small tweaks you can do that can really improve how your arrows fly and quiet any "twang" from the string.
Shooting real bows can be addicting...you may not stray to the Dark Side again! May the force be with you

Deaner, if I may so bold as to offer a bit of advice...better move your garden hose. ;)

Yes very addicting
