Anyone who's better at this than I am, especially with these quality of photos, take a crack.
I'm guessing 3 1/2 for the first and 2 1/2 on the second. :dunno:
-
those pics dont offer anything to go by but antler size... if thats all i have to go by id say the middle buck is 1 1/2, and cant see enough of the left buck. if that middle buck / second pic buck are 2 1/2 id say they have pretty poor genetics just my :twocents:
-
1.5 to 2.5 on both deer. :twocents:
-
i dunno, middle buck in top pic may be 2 1/2 actually... but hard to really make a good guess.
-
A lot goes into the shape and size of a buck's neck too though. That's why I posted On the first pic, the two bucks on the far left and right are not in the equation, they're probably both 1 1/2. I meant the center buck in the first pic only. :sry:
Are you saying the biggest buck in that first pic is a is a 1 1/2? Seems unlikely to me.
-
1.5-2.5 probably 1.5 on the last one and 2.5 on the first.
-
my guess is the center buck first pic MAY be 1 1/2 but could be 2 1/2... cant really say from that pic. and id put money on bottom pic being 1 1/2. im no expert tho just giving my opinion. hard to really get a good look at body shape and size with that first pic.. and if you have to make a guess going by antlers... imagine him without his ears back.. bone will have quite a bit of shrinkage. but 2.5 is probably a safe bet for first one
-
Yep and Yep. Its in that ballpark. Other than cracking a jaw and gandering at those teeth, thats the best guess.

Okay now I'm tracking. I agree.

:chuckle: :chuckle:
This is close enough then.
Here's another pic of the smaller guy, looks kind of heavy from this angle
but that could be from all the corn

mind if i jack your post to throw up a pic of a buck id like some aging input on?
-
silence = consent... so this guy id really like some outside opinions on his age. so ill just post him without my guess. the reason this one is tough for me to make a call on is his body size and shape makes him look younger than his antlers do. hopefully i get pics of him next year to compare. so what would you guys say of this one?
-
also if you noticed he doesnt seem to have years of nasty staining around glands. i have my hopes up that this one has a couple years of getting bigger before his antlers start going downhill
-
Haha, consent given. Yeah he does look younger from the ears down. I doubt I'd give him a few years to find out though :twocents:

ya i know i couldnt pass him either... but i wont be hunting that spot 2013, i have something else in mind. luckily hes on private property where only a couple other people hunt. so if they dont pull the trigger on him hes got a good chance of being around until 2014 season. at that point hed be pretty impressive so long as im not underestimating his age

:yeah:

I'm by no means a WT expert, only having messed with them for the last 5 years (beginning when I started school at UI), but I did pick up a number of sheds over there. Judging by the 'tiers' of the sizes of sheds I picked up, I'd guess the first one is 2.5 and the second 1.5, like most of the others that have posted.
You're right about that one having a heck of a body! Likely the corn, or hay like you say. Never seen a mountain whitetail that small with a body that big!

I'd guess 4.5 with good feed, which it sounds like he has being on private land. Otherwise 5.5 if he's a timber/mountain buck. :twocents:
