Been waiting for this hunt all year, I have been a bowhunter for 18 years so when I drew the multi tag this year I applied for this hunt. MY first Rifle Elk. passed on 2 small branch bulls durring the regular season so I could continue to hunt and was able to take this cow at 1:00 new years day with my son, dad and friend with me.... she had 5 other cows with her and she was the biggest of the bunch... 300lb hanging on the meat scale....

Very nice! Congrats

Congrats; bet your son was excited. The hunting seed is planted. :)

Thats pretty cool.....lot of good haning meat there. Also....looks like you have the pefect man barn set up.
-
Yeah the shop is nice but not mine, decided to hang her whole at my buddies instead of cutting her in 1/2 and hanging her in my meat locker...
-
Excellent, did the same thing last year with my kids! Good Job!
-
Nice job, my 10 year old daughter has that tag, we are heading down this weekend to find the 4 smaller ones you didn't shoot. :chuckle: Way to go and good job getting the family involved.
-
great job...way to fill your freezer....even been that your family was there too
-
Pack out was pretty darn easy also.. she ended up about 70 yards uphill from a road , I backed my truck into the ditch so my tailgate was touching and she slid right into the bed, never thought in it could be that easy.. I shot her at 1:40 and was driving away at 2:40... I saw lots of people up there and wondered if I passed any members from here?

Sweeeet... she looks healthy ...good job ...got love being able to load them whole

By the way...awesome job loading her up...perfect.

Congrats on the nice cow. She should eat good
No need to trash up this thread, it has been cleaned up, leave it alone

Nice job on the shooting and loading!
-
Awesome!!! Congrats

That was an awesome hunt! Your boy will remember it forever. Great job. Did she by chance have hoof rot?
-
I am sure the snow made the drag easier but those clearcuts can be a tangled mess to get through on foot let alone dragging a full sized healthy cow, great job and lucky you for only having to go 70 yards down.
-
Congrats! great family hunt!
-
 So jealous, some day I will get an elk that is not 5 miles to the nearest trail. Way to go
-
No hoof rot on her but 1 of the cow's she had with her had a little limp. I got lucky where she fell as she was on a pretty good trail that led to the road so didnt have all the junk to drag her accross, I still cant believe it was that easy to get her out (never usually works out that way for us)... must of missed the trashing thing? anyone notice she pretty much has zero fat on her?
-
Nice cow! Even with the downhill slope it seems amazing you got her in the truck whole. We got one uphill like that this year, and it never even occurred to us to drag her out whole. We just got to work quartering and gutting.

The elk is cool but the garage is awesome! Glad you had a great hunt with the family.
