Title: Nikon prostaff rimfire 3x9
Post by: JH on January 03, 2013, 12:15:23 PM
After toasting another cheap scope on my .22 I have decided I am going to buy something decent. Does anyone have experience with this scope? I am looking to put it on a m&p 15-22.

I am interested in other options as well but want to keep it around the same price.

Let me know your guys opinions.

Thanks

No experience with the Prostaff line, but my Nikon Buckmasters have held up well.  Don't know what price range you are talking about, but Natchez Shooters Supply has a closeout sale on the Prostaff 4x32 rimfire scope in realtree camo for $69.95.  My luck with cheap scopes has not been good, but then, airguns tear up the best of them if they are not designed to take the double-recoil.

With a scope how far are you shooting with that M and P? I just got one for Christmas and was looking into scopes also.  ;)

Just went through the same search recenlty.  I've only had it a month, so can't give a thorough review, but check out the Votex Diamondback 2-7x35 rimfire.

I just put my Nikon Pro Staff 3-9 on my varmint ar until I can afford what I really want.  I originally bought this scope for my wifes .243 but the eye relief was giving my wife problems (new shooter at the time) and she was having a heck of a time with it.  I moved it to one of my other guns and bought her a  leupold and she loves it.  Needless to say the Nikon just sat around until now.  I like the glass it is extremely clear.  The eye relief is decent but not great.   I personally would not buy another.  You can buy a cheap leupold for the same price (their rifleman scopes), but don't think they are bad glass at all.   :twocents:

The Nikon P-22 is looking really neet. Its made just for the AR15-22 platforms.

I got my Vortex Strikeforce on last night. Cool red or green dot sight, but want a scope also for loger range fun.

If you hunt at night, you'll love the lighted reticle.  You can't see the black reticle in the dark.

I have shot the ProStaff rimfire 4X and it is excellent.
My son is going to get one on Monday for his 9th birthday.(He met the criteria of shooting small groups with irons)
Leupold may have better eye relief but the ProStaff glass is much clearer....and less likely to need shipping to Oregon for replacement.
