Not clear why they released it, assuming since he was dressed as a trapper, and knew how to open a double-spring leghold, that bobcat was closed in that jurisdiction and he was releasing it from his trap. Odd set right next to a driveable trail in the wide open?

The comments are depressing, though funny - we live in a world of morons when it comes to nature and natural resources management and regulation.
