Title: It came from the Deep
Post by: johng on January 06, 2013, 11:39:36 AM

So, I was out fishing the "Big Lake" on the west side for perch last week and pulled this guy out by accident.  My line got caught on some other line that was out there so I decided to pull in that other line just to get it out of the water and I was rewarded with the biggest crawdad I have ever laid eyes on.   :yike:

I have caught a few here and there using my traps but this guy was huge (at least I think so).  The second picture of him on the plate does him more justice.... there was enough meat in his claws even for a few very tasty bites.

Cheers!

- John G.

Well from the looks of the one crawdad it would be worth a few sets that's for sure.

What part of "last week" in the very first sentence of the OP refers to before October 31st when the season ends?

A monster for sure.

Educational to me.  I had no idea there was a crawdad season.  Our water is too buck cold or frozen that time of year.  Good to know though.

I used to catch them as babies, bring them home and put them in my aquarium.   Theyd acclimate and was some of the best entertainment ever in the tank.   Every once in awhile one would catch a fish.  It was worth it.    I am sure that is illegal too.  Hopefully the statute of limitations is over.

...any guy that would bring home a single crawfish to eat and take pics of it on the plate with half a pincher down, shouldn't be fined too heavily. :lol4:

jackmaster-- all we said it was a illegal catch, not one person has said anything mean or derogatory whatsoever, i really dont think anyone gives a hoot over 1 crawdad, even if it does look like a lobster

i think this post is a great example of great members that do NOT support breaking the law, and encouraging others to stay legal for all of us.

Nothing wrong with helping someone learn to be as aware as possible of the laws.
