Title: Response from Rep. Ed Orcutt.
Post by: scout/sniper on January 09, 2013, 11:53:33 AM
  I received this very positive response to my letter from Rep. Ed Orcutt.

Paul,

I understand, and fully agree with you.  You can count on my opposition to any attempts to weaken self-defense laws or your 2nd  Amendment rights.  I always say, the best gun control is to place a firearm firmly into the hand of a law abiding citizen. If that’s not enough, then said citizen should use both hands.

It seems that you may be referring to Sen. Feinstein’s legislation, so I wanted to clarify that I represent you in Olympia, not Washington DC, so I have no vote or influence over the bill – but I do oppose it.  Be sure to contact Sens. Murray and Cantwell, and Rep. Herrera Beutler, as they do represent you in Congress and will be voting on that legislation. Let me know if you need their contact information.

Thanks,

Ed

Representative Ed Orcutt

20th Legislative District

That is a very great response. I read it last night and then wrote a letter of my own to email to our senators. If I understand correctly the only way to email them is from their respective pages after giving your name address and other unnecessary information. Is that the only way? Or does someone have a regular email address for them?

Contact your legislator by emailing  using their name separated by a period and @leg.wa.gov such as Joe.Black@leg.wa.gov

Just like Ed said, make sure you know who you contact. If it is a federal bill (such as Feinstein) the reps in Olympia have NOTHING to do with it. Same with all of the talk with the Obama admin.

Correct. I copied and pasted my letter into their message content box and apparently theres a 5000 character limit.... :bash: I don't want to shorten my letter to 5000 characters. I feel that my entire letter's content is important...

so Maria Cantwell's Email is maria_cantwell@cantwell.senate.gov...Should I assume that that Senator Murray's would be Patty_Murray@Murray.senate.gov?

Bueno! Just sent emails to all three of those ladies that were written by the NRA and then sent my letter that I wrote as well. We will see if I get a reply!

That is a very useful link for anyone that wants to send a message to their senator but doesn't have the skills or want to put their emotions into words!

Thanks scout!
