My buddy has spent 15 months in Iraq and will soon be off to Warrant Officer school. He really wants to bag a bird before he goes. It looks like Stevens County along the river would be our best bet, but I cannot locate any public land. Can anyone offer some advice?

Knock and talk, most farmers want to see the birds thinned down. So, knock and talk.

You dont have to draw a permit for 133 now and there is lots of birds. I would ask some of the farmers. It would be hard to turn down a soldier that spends some much time serving our country. I think there is couple people on here from davenport and hawk creek area. Might be something to check in to.

SlBeasley, you may wish to delete your phone number, ask for a Personal Mail.....you never know who is visiting this site....
Thank you for your service, good luck, let the farmers/property owners know your situation, you are a shoe-in.
Again, thanks.

I suggest hunting around Colville or Chewelah. There is a sporting goods store in downtown Colville. They can point you in the right direction. There is a lot of federal and state land (public) land around. There are plenty of turkeys around this area. Another area to try would be the Republic Area in GMU 101 lots of public land and roads. Good luck.
