Came across an area in Whitman County today with a set of WDFW signs for "Hunting by Reservation Only!"
I'd never seen these before and haven't seen any thing about the program on this site or any other.
Here's what I could find on the Agency site.

There are a ton of "hunting by written permission only" landowners in Whitman County. These landowners are getting older, and some don't even live in Whitman County, or in WA. So the WDFW is trying to make it easier for landowners by taking the issuance of permission slips away from landowners and turn it over to a online system. Landowners were asked if they would like to participate in the program, so not all "written permission" lands will be in the program.

I think it's great idea and I hope they get the bugs worked out of it soon.

I live in St John and ALOT of land will be huntable this year that is "hunting by reservation". Some areas have hundreds of deer around them and alot of it is newly available land with GREAT potential especially the areas close to the rocks... One area I will be shooting for definitely! Huge Mulies! :twocents:

Based on this post, I'd be willing to bet you won't be alone looking for all those huge mulies and hundreds of deer!!

Love hunting Whitman County. Unfortunately as many of these large older landowners pass on the lands go on to their children who often live hundreds of miles away and simply post No Trespassing signs.

Yeah, probably just increased the number of hunters tenfold. :bdid:

Doesnt matter its hunting by Reservation. Only one hunter at a time, not even landowners can hunt unless they block out a day for themselves, no vehicles allowed and in popular areas you will be in a drawing and notified of the date you can hunt. Or so I'm told by the farmers around here who are doing it... Everything else is private. Plus I have about 10000 acres around Rock Lake to hunt with a few other guys! :chuckle:
